Steeped in Stories: Timeless Children’s Novels to Refresh Our Tired Souls

I wish I could have liked this book more. I thought that the author’s choice of books, virtues, and the connection between them was brilliant. I loved exploring each book with each virtue in mind and I learned more than I thought I would.
The difficulty I had with this book was that it wasn’t (for me) easily readable. I didn’t feel compelled to pick up the book as I walked by. It took me much longer to read Steeped in Stories, even though it’s a slim volume.
I was also surprised at the level of religious context and bible quotes in every chapter. I wish I had known it was a book about children’s’ books, but with a strong overtone of organized religion.
This book wasn’t for me, but I was grateful for the knowledge and some of the insights that I received from it.
