F@*K. ME.

This book DESTROYED ME, in the best possible way. I happy-sobbed my eyes out at the end, and am now a zombie with the book hangover from hell, listening to all the mid-90s music I loved that was mentioned all thru the book.

Swoon /5 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Angst /5 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Steam /5 ♨️♨️
Plot /5 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐
LOLs /5 🤭🤭🤭

As someone who was a similar age to the two MCs when they grew up in the 90s, and who lived in the U.K, this was a walk down memory lane, which I think helped me connect so deeply. But also, it’s absolutely STELLAR writing - the best Fearne Hill has written yet. Matt is raw & real & funny & beautiful & tragic, with a traumatic, deprived home life. He becomes friends with Alex, who’s life is the opposite, and they fall in love. While Matt knows & accepts he’s gay, Alex’s love for Matt is bewildering & undefinable for him, and they end up losing each other.

20 years later, their paths unexpectedly cross. Instantly, their connection sparks again. And it’s a beautiful thing to watch them finally get the HEA they deserved. In possibly one of the best written epilogues I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. Cue flooding happy tears…

Heavy on angst, but also laden with puerile teenage & daggy Dad humour, I often found myself laughing through tears that had suddenly popped up. The insight of being queer in the 90s in the U.K was often heartbreaking. But the purity and intensity of their love tempered it. There were surprisingly few s3x scenes. And I’m surprised to admit that I didn’t even miss them. The swoon, the emotion, was enough. The writing utterly enchanted me. This is going in the “best ever” pile.

“Why are you here?” he asked abruptly. Because having you back in my life, albeit a grumpy, sick version of you, was the high point of my last ten years? Because I haven’t slept since you vanished—again? Because seeing you here, now, and so delicately beautiful, makes my heart soar in a way no one else ever has?”

Drache.... (Angelika) Beautiful review, this sounds amazing..

Enay QueerBooklover It really is, Drache - give it a go! And let me know what you think if you do 💗

Hibby As a fellow Brit this is extremely nostalgic. Ive read a ton of British m/m romance but none of them bring me back to my past like this.

Enay QueerBooklover I completely agree with you, Hibby!

Lilo It's totally my jam,how they met each other again 😍😍😍😍😍 I'd love to read more of this "trope". And whenever I see an MC saying "my beautiful boy" about or to the other MC I'm a puddle 🤣an this is not even age gap

Enay QueerBooklover Lilo, I love this trope so much too. Second chance after years separated… perfect. And I get what you mean about “my beautiful boy”… 😘

Lilo Enay wrote: "Lilo, I love this trope so much too. Second chance after years separated… perfect. And I get what you mean about “my beautiful boy”… 😘" I actually literally meant the way how they met again, I just didn't want to throw spoilers 🤣 Isn't this a trope/recurring motive in doctors romances? I haven't read any but I can imagine it is 🤔😁I need to make my research

JP Fantastic review! Agree with every word so far.

I just finished the high school portion of the book and already know this is going in my GOAT list. I’ve loved all of Fearne’s books so far, but this one, I agree, is the absolute best. The way it is both SO funny and SO depressing at the same time is masterful, and in many ways very realistic because of that. I’m halfway through ‘part 2’ in 2005, and am wrecked. Wrecked wrecked wrecked. I literally cannot stop thinking about it and cannot wait to pick it up again and keep reading.
