I really thought this was going to be a surefire win for me, based on friend reviews and my general enjoyed of the author, but it was just okay!!
I think maybe I needed Luke POV. Like, I get unreliable narrators are a thing, but I really didn't get a good sense of their past relationship. Were they good friends or not????

From what I understand this was a kind of "rehearsal" (if that is not a awful description), this was for a certain project/site and she later wrote a full length novel about a baseball player in the 1950s which comes out in Spring, which will be traditionally published. It felt a bit like an appetizer rather than a full meal, didn't it?

Ohhhh, well, that will be a pre-order for me!And, yes, it did! It was nice, but didn't match my high expectations.
