“I think I need you for keeps.
I think I need for keeps too.”
This book was so heartbreaking and sweet. Binding 13 follows Shannon, a girl who moves to a private school in Ireland after being bullied at her previous schools and Johnny, a star rugby player. Shannon meets Johnny when he accidentally hits a ball at her and they quickly become friends. Will they stay friends or become something more?
“Hi Johnny.
“Boom, boom, fucking boom, Da,” I groaned, slapping a hand against my chest. “I’m done for.” 🤭
I became invested in the characters and the story in the beginning. The writing is easy to follow and engaging. The pacing was well done throughout the book, although the middle was a bit slow. The characters are very complex, they all have challenges they have to go through. I love Shannon, she is sweet, hardworking, resilient, stubborn, brave, and lovable. I'm so proud of how strong and resilient Shannon is during the abuse she's been through. Shannon's character development was excellent, I enjoyed watching her learn to trust others and realize that she is lovable. I'm in love with Johnny, he's protective, sweet, hardworking, determined, funny, strong, and charming. I love how sweet and protective he is to Shannon, it warmed my heart. Johnny's character development was great, I enjoyed seeing him realize that loved ones are important as well. I loved the hospital scene, Johnny was so funny, wholesome and sweet. I really liked the side characters especially Gibsie, Claire and Joey. Joey is such an amazing brother and I loved that he would do anything to protect Shannon. The tension and chemistry between Shannon and Johnny was amazing. I loved the banter and the sweet scenes between them. The second guessing and the drama was a bit much at times. I loved that Shannon and Johnny's relationship developed over time, it took a while for them to get to know each other and become close. I appreciate that the author brought to life important topics such as bullying and abuse, the author did it in a serious and realistic way. The ending was so heartbreaking and sad, it broke my heart. I can't wait to read the next book.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, great characters, awesome chemistry and engaging writing.
