!!! I fixed my notification problem! I am now receiving them for comments. I logged out/off from all devices and also cleared cache/history on all the browsers where I used the website. I hope it will also help others who share the same issue. You still need to manually check the Notify me when people reply box manually though.
Only 3* this year and here is why:
1. Goodreads’ management decisions to eliminate some functions succeeded to annoy me so badly that I considered leaving the website. The worse was when they removed the sorting of friends. I used that for different reasons, but mostly for kipping up with new updates. The news feed is not good enough as I am only receiving updates from some friends. The removal of notifications and the need to go through each review and tick the Notify me box was an insult addressed to all members. I am still here because I care about the community. I still like reading and writing about books and I feel good when people are inspired by my thoughts. For how long, I do not know.
2. I could not keep up with my reading. I still have around 40 book that need reviewing and I feel overwhelmed. It did not help that I did not write any reviews for almost one month due to reason no.1.
3. I had a big literary fiction reading slump which is not entirely over. I read a lot of mystery and fantasy which is fine but I wish I could have read more of the novels I had planned at the beginning of the year.
Taking everything in consideration, I did not make my usual summary and I will only mention a few favorites.
Favorite fantasy:
1. The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
2. The Liveship Traders series by Robin Hobb
3. The Riyria Chronicles series by Michael J. Sullivan
Favorite SF novel:
1. Children of Dune by Frank Herbert
2. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
3. We by Yevgeny Zamyatin
Favorite mystery novel:
1. Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
2. Trunk Music by Michael Connelly
3. A Quiet Flame by Philip Kerr
Favorite literary fiction:
1. Pereira Maintains by Antonio Tabucchi
2. The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
3. Father Goriot by Balzac
Happy New Year friends! Hopefully, next year, users will be listened to more.

Thanks for this tip! I didn't know that, and it will help me immensely.

I am sorry for the frustration with GR and your reading slump.
My unsolicited advice--start fresh for the new year. Ignore GR intransigence and post reviews for the new books that you read. Those of us who want to read them will find them. And take a deep breath as you check that little box every time.
The feature here that is precious to me is the community of readers. I have come to rely on their/your reviews to point me to new to me authors and titles.
Wishing you joy and more stellar literary fiction reads for 2025!

It's cool you read We by Zamyatin; I didn't love that one but it was fascinating and I did enjoy it. Children of Dune too! All the palace intrigue ;-)
Happy New Year, and I look forward to more of your thoughts in 2025 :-)

Wishing you a wonderful 2025 in books!

Re: your year in books, thanks for your summary. I might pick up one or two of your best later on.
Re: my own year in books, it was not that great. No really interesting books (with one or two exceptions) and I've found myself losing patience with whatever I was reading more frequently than I wished. It might be just me getting older, but I get the distinct impression that there's less and less stuff worthy of my reading, even (or specially) from authors I used to like and respect.
I hope 2025 does a turn for the better. Happy new year everyone!

How is Argentina nowadays, it does look better from the outside? How does it feel for you?
Happy New Year!

It's cool you read We by Zamyatin; I didn't love th..." some books really fond you at the right time. It was like this with both of them. happy New Year!

Wishing you a wonderful 2025 in books!" I haven’’t use the app for years. I wish the same for 2025

Re your year. i guess the more we read the less we are surprised. When you read the same thing many times before, you are harder to impress. So this is one reason I’ve tried new genres this year, or ones I read less in the past.

PS. Everyone remember to back up your GR reading data - I like to download mine at the end of the year every year, since GR is notoriously unreliable.

Good point. I tend to stick with works for me, but this "First Kiss" effect is something that indeed tends to blunt our pleasures. So this is my first (and at least so far, only) New Year resolution: try and read new genres. Perhaps to go back to Fantasy, which I've been neglecting for quite some time...

Thanks very much for being a highlight of my reading year with our buddy-read of part of the Dune series. If you haven't moved onto the next I reckon we should find time for it sometime next year! :)
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family. All the best, mate! :)

I miss the sorting friends tools too which I too used sometimes. Though if you go to the full friends list and go to the very last page you will find your friends that have 'updated' sth recently. Dunno it you knew it or if it helps at all. Hopefully yes!
The Feed is indeed a mess and the reason why I have not used it in years! I just visit every friend that has left me a comment or like one by one and try to reciprocate back. It's very time consuming, but that way I usually make certain I don't miss anything at all :).
Hope you won't leave but I'll understand if you do. All the best Adina <3!
