I've been doing it long enough now that I have confidence in just letting the process stew in my brain, and sooner or later something turns up. Even when you're not directly addressing a question, the creative process seems to proceed. Of course, if you have a deadline, all bets are off.(less)

Anne Lamott says it comes from a gremlin that lives in her basement. On good days, he sends her great stuff, on bad days, not so much. But it's a great ride either way.(less)
