The writing in this novel is great but there needs to be a balance between showing and telling the story. There needs to be a balance between description and dialog. There is not and because of that I have lost interest in the story.
I will continue with it because I still have a desire to find out what happens but I don't care about the characters and have not connected to them.

I'll finish this book but the author uses way too much description to tell the story. It's kind of boring and hard to stay interested when there are walls of overly descriptive text.
While I do believe this novel deals with important themes I don't think I'm gonna end up rating it highly because of the overly descriptive writing.

I am liking this so far. I imagine the characters will end up being quite complex and maybe even unlikable? I am really excited to get further into this though. I think the writing is quite spectacular. I feel like I am sitting next to the characters and seeing what they are instead of reading.
