- “Built on historic Temple Mount, the Dome of the Rock is the third holiest sight in Islam. The mosque was founded in 691 AD by Omayyad Caliph Malik. The orginal cupola was said to have been covered by 10,000 sheets of pure gold, then looted by invaders. The present dome is gold-plated aluminum. The outside of the mosque is faced with 45,000 tiles which make up a fantasy of mosaics and quotations from the Koran. According to legend, the steps to mosque are where the scales will be placed on Judgement Day to weigh to souls of man.”
- —Pamphlet, Mario is Missing! (PC)
The Dome of the Rock is a building in Jerusalem, Israel. It appears in the PC versions of Mario is Missing! as a landmark stolen by a Koopa Troopa, closing the site until Luigi returns it to the curator, rewarding him 1540 dollars. The game treats Dome of the Rock and the Mosque of Omar as the same place in-game,[1] which is inaccurate, also considering another Mosque of Omar exists in Bethlehem, Palestine.
