Ascension
Dear Parent/Carer, We are in the middle of a very busy and important time for the school. Year 2 children have been working hard on Statutory Attainment Tests this week and our Year 6 children are preparing for theirs next week. Other internal assessments are also taking place in other year groups. Tomorrow is our Ascension Service in St Peters church at 10am for KS1 and KS2 children. Please note that school is not closed in the afternoon and lessons continue as normal. It was fantastic to have so many parents join us in church 2 weeks ago for our Centenary Service and hopefully many will again be able to join us tomorrow for songs, prayers, readings and sharing of childrens art work. Hot on the heels of this is our first Family Service of the Summer Term on Sunday 12th May at St Peters church at 10am. We hope that lots of you will be able to join us. Last night we held a very productive Parent Forum meeting where many areas of the school were discussed. Minutes will be available on the school website soon. May I remind you all that Parent Forum is an open meeting for all parents to attend. There is a suggestion box in the reception foyer where parents can suggest items for discussion on the agenda. Thank you to all parents who reclaimed items from the Lost Property last week. With the warm weather now here, please ensure your childrens uniform (particularly jumpers) have names in so they can be returned and dont end up in lost property. Proserve have contacted the school to announce that all St Peters summer uniform is in stock, including summer dresses and shorts. As we continue to develop our methods for sharing news and information with parents, please remember to visit the school website regularly. For instant news, links to childrens learning and photos of school events follow us on Twitter @BudleighStP. I ask that parents to please read the request about parking below and support us to keep the entrance to the school as safe as possible so that further measures are not necessary. Finally, please note the corrected date above for the SPSA Summer Fayre Saturday 6th July St Peter's Writing Showcase!! http://stpeterswritingshowcase.primaryblogger.co.uk/ Here you can read and comment on writing from our children. Just read the welcome page for instructions. All comments are subject to moderation before they appear on the site. If your child is showcased they will bring home some 'business cards' which can be shared with family and friends so they can visit and comment on their writing. Each week in the newsletter we will list the names of the children featured in the Writing showcase. Writing is chosen where children have made a real effort to produce their best writing and we aim to show a wide range of writing genres from each year group. There are also folders of specific writing projects Check out our 80 word stories from World book day by Y3 and Y5 in the 80 word stories folder. The writing showcase is also available via our school website http://www.st-petersschool.org.uk/ and clicking on children zone. Writing showcase is the fourth tab along. Also tweeted from @BudleighStP.
Showcased this week are the following children: Y4: Lily Allen, Charlie Prew, Kate Teed, Phoebe Woodthorpe, Astrid Palmer, Jude Levi, Sam Gore, Lucy Rose Y3: Maddie Kamester, Ella Crowhurst, Isobel Marsden-Swain, Thomas Del Picolo Monkey Bars Children must not go on the monkey bars before the start of the school day. Please can you ensure that your child does not go on them at this time. This is because we are unable to supervise them adequately. Children are allowed on the monkey bars at breaktimes (on the day that their teacher is on duty) so do have an opportunity to go on them during the week. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter. Parking We have had complaints from local residence over parking. Please take care when parking that you are not obstructing drive ways. Please also park safely, our local police are concerned about the parking around St Peters and we have placed bollards to discourage parking on the corner of Bedlands Lane. Please do not park on the zigzag markings by the school crossing as this area is essential for the Mr Williams to do his job safely. The zigzags provide a clear area at the entrance to schools to allow children to cross the road. Children can see motorists and motorists can see them. As you know this is a very busy junction at drop off and pick up times please ensure you are extremely careful when driving at these times. Tempest Photographer Tuesday 11th June The school photographer will be visiting on Tuesday 11th June. Mr Lees (photographer) will be located in the school hall from 8.30am. Families, who would like group photographs with children under school age including Nursery, please arrive at 8.30am and queue in the playground outside the Hall. Children in school will automatically be photographed in a family group during the school day, (unless you inform us otherwise). Please let the office know if a sibling in Carousel needs to be photographed with a family group.
