Washtenaw International High School Sept. 2013Present Ypsilanti, MI 9 th & 11 th Grade Pre-Student Teaching Intern and Student Teacher As a pre-student teaching intern, I observed a 9 th grade Spanish I, an 11 th grade International Baccalaureate Spanish I (third year Spanish), and an 11 th grade Culture of Spain class. As a student teacher I am creating and performing a variety of lesson plans and assessments in conjunction with my Mentor Teacher for these classes. These lesson plans and assessments include everything from the difference between ser and estar (the two verbs that mean to be) to the geography of Spain. I am also responsible for an entire unit of grammar and vocabulary for the three Spanish I classes. During this six week period I am creating all of the lesson plans, assessments, and materials as well as all of the teaching and grading. The unit includes clothing and shopping vocabulary, numbers from 100 to 1,000,000, colors and adjectives used to describe clothing, the difference between the two to know verbs saber and conocer, the present tense of dar (to give), direct and indirect object pronouns, the future tense, demonstrative adjectives, the preterit (past) tense for regular verbs, and the preterit tense of ser/ir (to be/to go). When I am not teaching I am providing assistance/direction to students as needed as they complete assignments.
Orchard Lake Middle School Jan. 2013Apr. 2013 West Bloomfield, MI 7 th & 8 th Grade Pre-Student Teaching Intern I observed an 8 th grade Spanish I teacher and a 7 th grade Algebra teacher, giving one-on-one assistance/direction to students and assisting the teacher as needed. I coached 7 th grade AVID tutoring students in student lead groups of 4 8 encompassing all subjects. I was responsible for creating and teaching multiple 8 th
grade Spanish lessons/activities on second person affirmative commands, sports, household vocabulary, and saber/conocer (the two verbs that mean to know). I studied literacy skills and strategies taught to students through observation, a student interview, an analysis of their Spanish textbook, and student surveys/content inventories.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Oct. 2010May 2011 Liking County, Ohio Big Sister I was accepted into the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Liking County program and was paired up with a fourth grader at Lakewood Elementary. Every Thursday I drove over to the school to eat lunch and attend recess with my little Virginia. The program pairs college students with under-privileged youth in hopes of exposing them to good role models. I know that Ive learned about as much from my little as I think shes learned from me. She was definitely the highlight of my week because I loved every moment with her.
