This past week in course two of Holt mathematics, students have been working on the least common factor and greatest common factor. In course three of Holt mathematics classes have been focusing on the functioning composition and determining if relations are functions or not. In both math classes we are continuing our work on solving word problems. No School for Students- Fri. Oct. 26th Wacky Wednesday- Wednesday Oct. 31 Picture Re-take Day- Nov. 1st Field Trip/Spirit Day- Nov. 2nd Parent/Teacher/Student ConferencesNovember 14th and 15th Students will begin the writing process of this contest soon after finishing their narrative fiction story in the beginning of November. They will write a personal narrative essay that focuses on one of the many moral focus topics.
Fall conferences will take place on the evenings of November 14th and 15th. Each family will be given a 10 minute time slot to discuss NWEA scores, goals, classroom academies, and behavior in class. Signups will be in the office soon.

October: Respect
This month we are moving from wisdom, and are focusing on Respect for this months moral focus. We have talked to the students about what respect means to them and asked them real life situational questions that make them use critical thinking skills to solve moral dilemmas. All while finding a respectful way to problem solve.

looked at the continent of Africa and located various countries, land forms, and physical features. They learned about the rise of African empires of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai. Climates of the continent were identified. We learned about important people in Africa: Sundiata Keita, Mansa Musa, and Sunni Ali. Next week, we will examine government and religion of Africa, and will start an in depth look at Egypt.
