Dear parents/guardians, Here are a few short items for consideration: Catholic Schools Week. On January 27, well begin our celebration of Catholic Schools week with an Open House. We are anxious to show our school and describe our programs to people who may be thinking of choosing St. Bede for their childrens education. But we also want to offer a special invitation to current families and to our graduates the St. Bede Alumni. See more about this later in this bulletin, at the web site, and in the days to come. Breakfast. It seems obvious, but children should have a good breakfast before coming to school in the morning. We have children coming to the office with vague expressions of illness, who, on questioning, report that they havent had breakfast. It may relate to morning transportation schedules or some childrens finicky eating habits. But in general, theyll do better in school if theyve eaten breakfastpreferably one that isnt heavy on the sugar. Survey. Watch the St. Bede homepage for a mid-year survey. It will be very much like the one we published in September, and will be asking for input and opinions on several timely topics. Volunteers. Remember to fill out a yellow slip recording your time for volunteer work. Its not a requirement (were just happy you volunteered), but the total number of volunteer hours donated make a strong case to outside persons and entities that we approach for support. I tabulated the slips for the first trimester, and while the totals were impressive (over 375 hours donated by volunteers) I know there were at least several moms and dads and others who didnt fill out a slip. Weather-Related Closing. If we have winter weather so severe that it necessitates closing school for one or more days, the notice will go out in more than one way assuming the weather hasnt also affected our communications. But well use both the home page and the telephone notification system, and if possible, put a note on the school answering machine. But the home page will be our first method. Many Thanks! Charles A. Pinto, Principal

Description of project

PreSchool

The subject would be the "St. Bede Neighborhood" with the church, school, playground, trees, flowers, Mary's garden, etc.

Mrs. Flackus and Ms. Hookom - a choral presentation.

- We are going to sing and do the hand motions to "Our God is an Awesome God" by Rich Mullins Students will be broke up into two groups of eight and judges will pick the best group from each class and the two best groups will perform together at the talent show! :) Each individual will work on a mural painting of several of their favorite things that represent them and then write a short poem to go along with it. Children will draw their own individual pictures of some type of lock with a key to unlock it depicting different things they can do in their lives to fit into the picture of the Saint Bede Community as a whole. A short drama on the life of a saint. See grade 4 below. We will be doing classroom plays and choosing the best one to perform for CSW. We are planning on performing the plays for each other's class, and then we will try to judge which group from each class should be performed for the school, based on our assessments and the student's reaction to each play.
