GRADUATE SCHOOL CALENDAR

FALL 2010
1. Continuing students must schedule fall semester courses by 7 p.m. on July 11, 2010. Payments must be received by
August 5, 2010 or you will lose your scheduled courses. Fee bills will no longer be mailed to students. You must pay
fees through your PAWS account or at the Office of the Bursar.

2. Continuing students who schedule after July 11th will be assessed the $75 late registration service charge.

3. CANDIDATES FOR DEGREE should pick up application for degree materials in Room 114 David Boyd Hall prior to the
Application for Degree deadline below or access forms on the web at gradschool.lsu.edu.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING DEADLINES


August 12-13 International Student Orientation
23 Classes begin
30 Final date for dropping courses without receiving a "W"
September 1 Final date for adding courses including 8000 and 9000. Final date for submitting forms to change
to pass/fail grading or audit.
1 Final date for registering *DEGREE ONLY
3 Final date for submitting to Graduate School or updating ** APPLICATIONS FOR DEGREE to be
awarded at fall commencement.
6 Labor Day Holiday
7 Classes resume, 7:30 a.m.

10 Final date for submitting to Graduate School REQUESTS FOR FINAL EXAMS (comprehensive
exam, thesis/dissertation defense) for degrees to be awarded at fall commencement. Note: All
final exam requests must be submitted 3 weeks prior to the date of the exam but not later than
September 10.

10 Final date for submitting to Graduate School GENERAL EXAMINATION RESULTS for the
doctorate to be awarded at spring commencement.

October 21 Fall holiday, 10:30 p.m.

24 Course scheduling for wintersession, spring semester, intersession, and summer term begins
5:00 p.m.
25 Classes resume, 7:30 a.m.
November 5 Final date for resigning from the University and dropping courses (Grades of "W" will be
assigned)

5 Final date for submitting to Graduate School the PROGRAM OF STUDY for the current semester
to be counted toward the doctoral residence requirement

19 Final date for submitting to Graduate School COMMITTEE EXAMINATION REPORT and
NOON approved THESES/DISSERTATIONS, including Graduate School corrections. Submission
DEADLINE--NOON. No extensions will be granted.

24-28 Thanksgiving holiday 12:30 a.m.

29 Classes resume, 7:30 a.m.


December 4 Classes end
6-11 Final examination period
17 Fall Commencement
* Final exams must have been taken in a previous semester. See "degree-only" registration in the Graduate Section of the
General Catalog.
** Applications for Degree submitted in a previous semester must be updated in writing.
