Estimate to find a value that is close enough to the right answer.

length How far from end to end. Or from one point to another.

Height The vertical distance from top to bottom

Students’ Prior Knowledge (What do the students already know that enables them to understand the lesson?):
Students learn about measuring.
Students learn how measure objects.

Possible Problems and Misconceptions (What are some problems that students will face because it is assumed that they have
the previous knowledge?):
• Convoys about where should start and end point to measure.
• The Estimate meaning.
Solutions (How/ What can be done to resolve the problems/misconceptions?):
• Explain what Estimate mean.
• Show them by modeling before sending them to the activity.
• Explain what Estimate mean.
• Show them by modeling before sending them to the activity.
Lesson Schedule
Targeted teacher language (What will the teacher say throughout the lesson?):
• We can use different tools to measure objects.
• Estimate (guess) the objects height.
Student language (What language will the students use throughout the lesson?):

• Example: “I use cube (tools) to measure the book”

Engage (warm up, review prior knowledge): time:
Note: catch student’s attention saying 123 eyes on me and make sure all students look at you.
Then, ask students to sit in circle on the carpet.
• Student teacher will ask the students “what do you know about height (tall and short)?”
10
“How we can measure the objects length?”
“Who can tell me what estimate means?”
• She will show the students an object and asked them “Can you estimate the length of this
objects?”. Then she will use different measurement tools (cubs, clip paper, measurement
table, ruler, straw, wooden stick……etc.)
• She will explain to the student that we can use different items to measure the object.
Note: 1. Choose students who rise their hand to answer the question.
.Compliment on the students who doing a good behavior.2
Note: Send students to the activity tables by grouse’s. e.g. red table stand up and go to the round
table.

Core (introduce and practice new concepts & procedures):

As whole class activity:
• student teacher will give each student a cloud card to write his friend name on it.
• in pairs students will use yarn to measure his friend height.
• They will use the glue to stick the yarn and the card on the board.
20
Read group:
collect four objects from the classroom. Guess(estimate) what the length, then use five different
tools to measure it.
Blue group:
Guess (estimate) the Monsters height, then use five different tools to measure it.
Green group:
Students will stick the tools (paper clips, tooth pick, yarn) that they use it beside the picture.
Yellow group:
Use the cubes to measure the objects in the flash cards.
Extra activity: find objects around the classroom and use different tools to measure it with.
Note: give the students who finish early an extra activity.
Note: Say “catch a bobble” if the students make noise while they do the activity.
Close (wrap up, discussion, brief review activity or assessment):
Note: To catch the students attention “hands on top, that’s mean stop”
• Ask students to tidy up then sit in the carpet.
• Choose random students present and talk about their work. 10
• Ask students “thumb up if you understand the lesson today”
