The first day was the opening program where we had some of the most competent
speakers in the field of education. Ms. Marlyn S. Santayana discussed about Reading: What’s old
and What’s new,Ms. Lisa L. Penaflor discussed about The Modern Face of Literature, and How
to Cope up with the Growing Complexity of Encouraging Millennials to Read.
On the second day of the seminar we had Ms. Norma B. Samantela who shared with us
the Importance of Reading, and Managing the Challenges of Teaching Reading. Meanwhile, Ms.
Michelle P. Pequeña discussed with us the different Strategies in Teaching Reading.
Finally, on the last day of the seminar, the chosen 3 MA teachers delivered their Demo
Teaching. Afterwards, the members of the committee had the critiquing and feedbacks.
The three-Saturday seminar about reading really helped me in a way that it refreshed my
prior knowledge in teaching reading. At some point, being a millennial teacher I realized how
challenging it is for us to encourage our millennial students to develop the love for reading.
We were asked to make and submit our own learning/lesson plan in English on the last
day of the seminar. They also requested 3 MA teachers to have their Demo Teaching during the
last day of the said seminar.
What benefits could DepEd SDO Albay and its clients derive from your attendance to the
training/conference?
This training will be relevant to the teachers by providing the participants new reading
strategies that will cope up to the needs of the millennials of today’s generation.
