Trip Generation Manual, 10th Edition

March 28, 2018

• The trip generation data presented for land use 926, Food Cart Pod have been corrected
to reflect accurate trip generation counts. Updated plots are shown Attachment 4. The
errata for this land use applies only to the Volume 2 electronic and hard-copy formats.
This change has been incorporated into the current version of the ITETripGen Web app.
• A significant change from the Trip Generation Manual, 9th Edition has been noted in the
trip generation rates published in the 10th Edition of the Trip Generation Manual for the
AM and PM peak periods for several office-related land uses including General Office
Building, Small Office Building, and Single Tenant Office Building (Land Uses 710, 714
and 715). The rate changes are related to several factors including: the removal of old
data, addition of new data, and further stratification of the data into adjacent street and
generator peak. Decreasing trends in trip generation rates over time also appear to be a
contributing factor to the rate changes. It is suggested that the ITETripGen Web app be
used to more fully evaluate sensitivities of the age of data on the trip generation rates
for office related land uses.
• Appendix A in Trip Generation Manual, 10th Edition presents time-of-day distribution
tables for a wide range of land uses. The table below expands upon this information and
presents the time-of-day distribution and the percent entering and exiting for each time
period for Land Use 820: Shopping Center for both the weekday and Saturday time
periods. The weekday portion of the table is based on data from 10 sites. The Saturday
data are based on 11 sites.

The following errata apply only to the Volume 2 electronic and hard-copy formats. These
changes are incorporated into the current version of the ITETripGen web app.
• The descriptive label that displays the average number of the independent variable units
incorrectly omits the word “Avg.” before each of the following independent variables:
o 1000 Sq. Ft. GFA
o 1000 Sq. Ft. GLA
o 1000 Sq. Ft. NRA
o Occupied 1000 Sq. Ft. GFA
o AM Peak Hour Traffic on Adj. St.
o PM Peak Hour Traffic on Adj. St.
• Minor revisions have been made to the land use description pages for private school (K-
8) (Land Use 534), private school (K-12) (Land Use 536), and charter elementary school
(Land Use 537). The revisions include removal of source 906 from land uses 534 and 536
and the addition of this source to land use 537. The revisions also include removal of the
2010s and Texas from the source descriptions for land use 536.
• The title on the land use description page for bread/donut/bagel shop with drive-
through window (Land Use 940) has been corrected to indicate that this land use
includes shops “with” drive through windows.
• Appendix A (time of day distributions) has been updated for gasoline/service station
with convenience market (Land Use 945) and super convenience market/gas station
(Land Use 960). The updated table is shown in Attachment 1.
• Directional distribution percentages have been corrected for twelve plots with round off
errors that incorrectly totaled 101% instead of 100%. The corrected values are shown in
Attachment 2.
• Standard deviation values have been corrected for all data plots with three points. The
corrected values are presented in Attachment 3.
