Title:
Description:
The proposed redevelopment of the Tanauan City public market into a commercial mall with a wet
and dry market component will be located on the 2.6 hectare City-owned property strategically
located along A. Mabini Avenue. There will be a four-storey fully air conditioned commercial
building with 278 leasable spaces of various sizes and six slots for automated teller machines. The
wet and dry market component shall have 774 stalls for various merchandises. There will be 296
parking slots for various types of vehicles including delivery trucks and vans as well as a 72-slot
tricycle termi nal and an 80-slot UV Express Terminal. It shall be a gender-sensitive and child-
friendly edifice. Recreational and amusement facilities are also considered as additional amenities.
Objective:
The proposed project primarily aims to support local entrepreneurs and encourage them to venture
into small businesses in the food, services and trade industries by locating inside the new
commercial facility and public market, thereby generating additional revenues for Tanauan City,
with hundreds of establishments envisioned to locate within the new complex.
The estimated project cost is PhP400 million. The project will be implemented under the Design-
Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT) under RA 7718 or the BOT Law.
Implementation Period:
The concession/cooperation period shall be for 25 years including the construction period of one
year. The construction phase starts within forty (40) days after receipt of LGU’s approval of design
and detailed lay-outs. The construction period is 360 calendar days after receipt of LGU’s approval
of design and detailed lay-outs.
Status:
Endorsed by the RDC Full Council to the NEDA Board-ICC subject to the results of the viability
analyses being conducted by the PPP Center and endorsed for inclusion to the Calabarzon RDIP
2011-2016 through RDC Resolution No. IV-A-12-2014 dated 26 June.
