I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:

a. Determine the character of the story

b. Relate the situation of the story into real life

c. Create an illustration of the story

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: “A Shawl for Anita” by Lolita M. Andrada

Materials: tarpapel, cartolina, pentel pen

Reference: English Learner’s Materials VII pp. 442-444

1. Motivation
I have here a crown. All you have to do is to pass the crown as the song goes

and when it stop the one who wear the the crown will pick question and answer it.

Questions:

1. How will you describe your mother?

2. Have you ever said “I LOVE YOU” to your mother?

3. Presentation

This morning we will going to discuss about character.

What is character?

4. Discussion

Let define what is character?

 Character is the person taking part in the narrative. A Protagonist is clearly

central to the story with all major events having some importance to this

character. The one who is against the protagonist is the antagonist.

Dynamic character - undergoes changes in character of a story.

Static character - is one who doesn’t undergoes any significant change in

character, personality over the course of a story.

5. Generalization:

What have you learned from our lesson today. Did you understand class? What

is character?
6. Application

This time we will have an activity. I will group you into three groups. Each

group will describe the character’s qualities change at the beginning of the story up

to the change happen at the end of the story. For group 1 you will be describe the

character change of Anita, for group 2 your will be describe the character of the

mother of Anita, and group 3 is the character of the middle child. Choose your

representative to present you output in the front.

IV. Evaluation

Based on your activity a while ago. Connect the situation in the story into real

life situation. As a group answer the following questions.

1. What was the most exciting part of the story? Why?

2. Based on the story, how does change affect people’s decision in life?

3. As a student, how do changes become essential to your life?

V. Assignment

In a short bond paper, create an illustration of the story “A Shawl for Anita”. You

may choose one of the character in your illustration or include all the characters. Think

about the color suitable to your work. Be creative and resourceful. At the back of the

paper, explain your work briefly.
