    1) Dua Fatima, a 9-year-old female, was registered on June 25, 2020 for a biopsy at Khan Medical City in Multan, Pakistan. 2) The biopsy was of her appendix, which measured 4.0cm in length and 0.8cm in diameter. 3) Microscopic examination revealed acute appendicitis and periappendicitis, characterized by intense transmural inflammatory cell infiltrate, vascular congestion, edema, and hemorrhage in the appendix and surrounding tissue. No malignancy or granulomas were present.

    Gross: Specimen received in formalin consists of appendix (4.0cm in length and 0.8cm in diameter) with shiny
    serosal surface. Representative sections are taken in one block.
    Microscopy:

    Histological examination of the section reveals appendix. There is intense transmural acute inflammatory
    cell infiltrate along with vascular congestion, edema and hemorrhage. Periappendiceal tissue also shows
    neutrophilic infiltrate. No granuloma is seen and there is no evidence of malignancy.
