I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
(1) the three major component of the cell (plasma membrane, cytoplasm and
nucleus)
(2) difference of Prokaryotic cell vs. eukaryotic cell
(3) structure and function of cell organelles and;
(4) difference between Animal cell vs. Plant cell
B. Performance Standard
 The learners shall be able to construct three-dimensional models of whole
cells using indigenous or recyclable materials. The models shall show the
following cell parts: (1) Endomembrane System, (2) Mitochondria, and (3)
Chloroplast

IV. PROCEDURES:
A. REVIEW/MOTIVATION/DRILL
Review the different postulates of the Cell Theory and Characteristics of Life and
relate it to function of the cell.
B. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON
- Present an overview of the cell membrane, its structure, and functions.
- Define what an ‘organelle’ is and differentiate membrane-bound organelles
from non-membrane bound organelles.
- Compare and contrast Prokaryotic cell and Eukaryotic cell
- Present images of membrane bound organelles, identify their structure and
discuss their specific functions.
- Differentiate the animal cell and plant cell.
C. APPLICATION/ ACTIVITY
- Microscopic observation of cheek cell (animal cell and cross section of plant
parts)
- Presentation of concept map on the difference and similarities of animal and
plant cell
D. GENERALIZATION
Ask students why cells are generally small in size. Then substantiate and relate the
relationship of cell surface area and volume.
E. EVALUATION
- Students will identify the different organelles in a given illustration and briefly
discuss its function.
- Quiz
F. ASSIGNMENT
- Research on diseases caused by non-functional organelles
