As I write this article, I cannot believe we have almost finished the second month of 2011. We
have experienced most likely the worst of our winter and with each passing day we anticipate the
new season of spring.
Such is life! Each day brings with it a certain element of challenge. Maybe for you, life has
seemed awfully cold lately. (Winter) You can’t wait for it to end. You have had many cloudy days
which maybe included extreme illness or near death. Maybe you have gone through periods of
loneliness lately or depression. Maybe for you it seems like winter will never end because there
appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel. There’s where you are wrong! There is a light at
the end of the tunnel for you.
Soon you will experience a better day. (Spring) The sun will shine more frequently. The flowers
will bloom and God will bring out new life. Beyond that, God likewise has in store for you a much
brighter day. Soon you will be able to move beyond the bad days because he has a wonderful
future in store for you.
I learned a long time ago, that if I did not have the bad days, I could not fully appreciate the great
days.
This morning I watched Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts describe the perils he faced as
a child. He explained that through all the abuse and hostile environment, it has made him what he
is today. Then he made a staggering comment. He said, “I would not have wanted my past to
have been any different. If it were different, I would not be where I am today, not have married the
person I did or have the children I have.” If he can have that attitude after being abused, what can
God bring you through?
Your best is yet to take place! I am reminded of Paul’s words when he said, “We are hard pressed
on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned;
struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Cor. 4:8-9) Don’t forget that this week. Hang in there! Better
days are coming! God will be with you at all times.
In His service,
Brad Seevers, Eph. 3:20-21
