Preliminary Activity

WEEK 1
MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY 1

Direction: To assess your learning, answer the following questions:


❖ In your own idea what is Physical Fitness?
Physical fitness is the ability of your body systems to function together
efficiently so that you can stay healthy and complete daily tasks, being efficient
implies doing daily tasks with the least effort possible. A fit person can
complete studies, take care of daily obligations, and still have enough stamina
to participate in sports and other recreational activities. A healthy person is
capable of resuscitation.

❖ What are the important benefits of Exercises and Physical Fitness

The important benefits of Exercise and Physical Fitness can give you
strength and healthy lifestyle including reduce the risk of premature death,
reduce the risk of developing and/or dying from heart disease, reduce high
blood pressure or the risk of developing high blood pressure, reduce high
cholesterol or the risk of developing high cholesterol, reduce the risk of
developing colon cancer and breast cancer, reduce the risk of developing
diabetes, reduce or maintain body weight or body fat, build and maintain
healthy muscles, bones, and joints, reduce depression and anxiety, improve
psychological well-being, and enhanced work, recreation, and sports
performance.

ACTIVITY 2
Instruction: Give the contribution in physical education of the following person:

1. Friedrich Ludwig Jahn – He invented the parallel bars, the rings, the balance beam,
the horse, and the horizontal bar, which became standard equipment for gymnastics.

2. Robert TaitMckenzie– he developed a program of physical exercise.

3. Archibald McLaren - He contributed to the science of physical training, and it was


Maclaren’s belief that fitness was the key to a successful army.

4. NeilsBukh - he developed the concept of “primitive gymnastics'' to build a perfect


physique.

5. Franz Nachtrgall – played a large part in introducing physical education into public
schools or Denmark and into teacher preparation. He was directly responsible for
introducing physical education in schools of Denmark.

6. GustafNyblaeus – He is the administrator of the RCI and women


were admitted for the first time.

7. Per Henrik Ling - He devised and taught a system of gymnastic exercises designed to
produce medical benefits for the athlete.
8. Adolph Spies - He founded the school of gymnastics in Germany and
helped to make physical education part of a school program. He contributed to the
development of school gymnastics for children of both sexes in Switzerland and
Germany.

9. Johann Bernhard Basedow – He advocated the use of realistic teaching methods and
the introduction of nature study, physical education, and manual training into the
schools. He is the founder of Physical Education.
10. Johann Friedrich Guts Muths -introduced systematic physical exercise into the
school curriculum, and he developed the basic principles of artistic gymnastics.

ACTIVITY 2

Direction: make a paragraph explain the legal bases of physical education.

Legal bases of physical education is the habitual physical activity participation


to achieve and maintain health-enhancing-levels of fitness. It is about the health of
one person and communication through physical activity. Physical education is
introduced at a young age and creates a lifelong precedent. A youngster who
participates in physical education on a regular basis during their formative years is
considerably more likely to continue exercising as an adult, another advantage of
physical education is that it strengthens peer relationships. Working in a group also
improves communication skills and fosters respect for others, as well as being a lot of
fun and a wonderful talking point for a group of friends. Friendly rivalry is also
considered as a positive feature to have, particularly during a person's adolescent
years, since it can foster an aspirational mentality and a desire to succeed later in life
so, physical education is so important in most cultures that it is required by law, as it
develops character, encourages a healthy lifestyle, and prepares a person for a happy
and prosperous adult life.

ACTIVITY 3
Direction: Discuss why it is important to develop physical, social, emotional and mental
development.

It is important to develop our physical, social, emotional and mental development


because it is commonly used for our daily lives. It helps to improve our positivity, control
ourselves, and helps to properly process our brain. Without physical education our healthy
lifestyle is weak and we cannot do what we want to do because we are inadequate in
nutrients and have a strong body.

WEEK 3
MOTIVATIONAL ACTIVITY 1
Direction: explain the difference of physical fitness and medical fitness.
Physical Fitness is the ability of an individual to perform one's daily activities
efficiently without undue fatigue, reduce the risk of health problems and with extra
"reserve" in case of emergency while in medical fitness you use vitamins or drugs to keep
your body strong. It is an individualized health risk management model designed to
maximize a person's health and quality of life.

ACTIVITY 2

Direction: discuss the difference of physical fitness and physical wellness.

Physical Fitness is the capacity to do a physical task or the absence of a physical


ailment, and it is defined as the ability to execute a physical task or the absence of a bodily
ailment while in Physical wellness, on the other hand, is defined as the harmonious
integration of a variety of health-related factors in one's life.

ACTIVITY 3
Direction: to assess your learning, answer the following questions:

1. Which component of physical fitness is most important for long-distance swimming?

WEEK 4
ACTIVITY 1

Direction: discuss the safety guideline of physical battery test fitness and explain the
importance of it.
Safety guidelines of physical test fitness are about the health care of one person. It is
important to assure the health capacity of one person to know if the body of students is
flexible. It is important to have warm-up to avoid flatulence in your body and about pulse
rate to know if your heart beat is accurate on your exercise.

ACTIVITY 2

Direction: identify what are the physical component being tasted in the following test items.

Test Items: Component of Physical Fitness


1. Standing Long Jump - IThe long jump is defined as an athletic event in which the
jumper combines three motor qualities - strength, speed and agility.
2. Bent-Knee Curl-Ups - Good strength and endurance of the abdominal muscles are
important in promoting correct posture and pelvic alignment. The curl-up abdominal
fitness test requires the subjects to perform as many curl-ups as possible following a set
cadence.
3. 50 Meter Sprint - The aim of this test is to determine acceleration and speed. Equipment
required: measuring tape or marked track, stopwatch, cone markers, flat and clear surface
of at least 70 meters.
4. Regular Push-Ups (Males) - A basic push-up involves several muscle groups: upper and
lower pectorals (chest), all 3 heads of the deltoids (shoulders), triceps (the back of the upper
arm), rhomboids and teres major and minor (smaller muscles in the upper back), and the
core
5. Knee Push-Ups (Females) - the body is not kept straight from the hamstring, it is also an
upper body warm up routine to prepare your muscles for strength training.
6. Shuttle Run - build explosive power, agility, and endurance, it is also an ideal exercise
drill to add to any training routine. The intensity of shuttle runs range from basic to more
advanced.
7. Sit and Reach - is a common measure of flexibility, and specifically measures the
flexibility of the lower back and hamstring muscles. This test is important because
tightness in this area is implicated in lumbar lordosis, forward pelvic tilt and lower back
pain.
8. 1000 Meter Run - The performer should run or walk at a pace he can sustain for the
duration of the test.
9. Three Minute Step Test -it starts the test by stepping up onto the bench in an up-
up-down-down sequence. Left, right, left right. The lead foot may be switched at any
time during the test. Stepping must be in sync with the metronome, one step for
each beat and step for a full 3 minutes.
