“Ways to Combat Stress during a Global Health Crisis”

Ever since the 2019 novel coronavirus, otherwise known as Covid-19 was declared a
pandemic on March 11, 2020, we have stayed at home and minimized interaction with
the outside world. As of writing this essay, the pandemic is still ongoing and as a result
some of us have experienced struggles, one being stress. While stress is a normal
reaction to certain situations, we must try to avoid it from greatly affecting our life and
resist it.
In order to combat stress, it is important to learn more about it first. Stress is a response
to an internal or external cause called a stressor, and this is not the same as anxiety
which is actually a person’s specific response to stress. Examples of stressors
emerging during the pandemic are loneliness, increased works and projects for both
students and employees, reduced social support, as well as financial issues.
There are many ways to manage stress, such as doing the things you love, though it is
different for every one of us. It can be ranging from playing an instrument you like,
doing the arts, or even just sleeping. For instance, let’s say Andrew is struggling. For
him to calm himself, Andrew will listen to music. What Andrew has done will undeniably
make him more relaxed. In addition to this, listening to your body and its needs is still
significant, and by doing so, you are certain to be walking on the path to a stress-free
life during this pandemic. Aside from doing things you are passionate about, being
honest and connecting with the people you trust might also make you feel like you are
not alone, which will definitely help combat stress.
It is crucial to understand that these are just some of the ways to try to avoid and reduce
stress’s effect in our life and those who we love. The most essential lesson to learn is
that a person’s emotional state is as important as their physical state, and in a
pandemic where our interaction with the outside world is minimized, we should stay
strong and be sure to make time to do what we love.
