Tribunals

Why in News?

The Tribunals Reforms (Rationalisation and Conditions of Service) Ordinance, 2021 was
promulgated on April 4, 2021. It dissolves certain existing appellate bodies and transfers
their functions (such as adjudication of appeals) to other existing judicial bodies. A Bill with
similar provisions was introduced in Lok Sabha on February 13, 2021 and is currently
pending.

Essay: UPSC may ask candidates to write an essay on the merits and demerits of the
system of Tribunals, appointments, tenure and the issues related to it.

Cyber Security in India

Why in News?

India entered the top 10 of a global cybersecurity ranking of countries, ahead of China at
No.33, and Pakistan at No.79. India improved its ranking from 47 to 10 in the United
Nation’s ITU Global Cybersecurity Agenda (GCA).

Naxal Violence

Why in News?

Amid a weakening footprint of Naxal violence and a “marked” improvement in the security
situation on the ground, the Centre has removed 20 districts out of 90 districts and one
State out of 11 affected States from the coverage of Central funding under the Security
Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme for conducting focused operations against the ultras to
contain the menace.
