ELECTRONICS DEVICES AND CIRCUIT PRACTICAL LAB

Experiment-1

Aim:
To design and study the characteristics curves of the input and output
of inverting and non-inverting amplifier circuits on MATLAB.

Components Required:
MATLAB Simulink, resistance, input AC voltage source, Op-Amp,
ground earth, connecting wires.

Specifications Taken:
The amplifier circuit design has been stimulated on MATLAB using
following specification:
Power Supply: 0.1 V
Frequency: 1 kHz
Resistor 𝑅 = 20𝑘𝛺
Resistor 𝑅 = 2𝑘𝛺

Theory:
An inverting-amplifier circuit is built by grounding the positive input of
the operational amplifier and connecting resistors Ri and Rf, called the
feedback networks, between the inverting input and the signal source
and amplifier output node, respectively. It is a type of operational
amplifier circuit which produces an output which is out of phase with
respect to its input by 180 degrees. The operational amplifier can also

be used to construct a non-inverting amplifier with the circuit
indicated below. The input signal is applied to the positive or non-
inverting input terminal of the operational amplifier, and a portion of
the output signal is fed back to the negative input terminal. The output
is applied back to the inverting (-) input through the feedback circuit
(closed loop) formed by the input resistor Ri and the feedback resistor
Rf. This circuit produces an output which is in phase with respect to its
input.

Procedure:
1. Connect the circuits as shown in the circuit diagrams one by one.
2. Give the input signal to each circuit as specified.
3. Provide the values to all the components as specified.
4. Draw the necessary waveforms of the outputs on the graph sheet .

Observations:
Observe the output waveforms. An inverted and amplified waveform
will be observed in the case of inverting amplifier and a non-inverted
and amplified waveform will be observed in the case of non-inverting
amplifier.

Result:
Hence the Op-Amp can configure as inverting amplifier and non-
inverting amplifier circuit as observed from the given graphs.

Precautions:
1. Connections should be verified before clicking run button.
2. The resistance to be chosen should be in 𝑘𝛺 range.
3. Best performance is being obtained within 50Hz to 1Mhz.
