KEY HIGHLIGHTS
HIGHLIGHTS:

GDP growth in 2015-16, projected to be between 8 to 8.5%.

Housing for all - 2 crore houses in Urban areas and 4 crore houses in
Rural areas.
Electrification of the remaining 20,000 villages including off-grid Solar
Power- by 2020.

Ensure a Senior Secondary School within 5 km reach of every child, while


improving quality of education and learning outcomes.

15,000 crore for Long Term Rural Credit Fund

Unclaimed deposits of Rs 3,000 crore in PPF and Rs 6000 crore in EPF; to


create senior citizens welfare fund from this corpus

Ports in public sector will be encouraged to corporatize & become


companies under companies act
Overview of the economy
• The GDP grew at 6.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2017-
18 and is expected to grow
at 7.2-7.5 per cent in the second half of 2017-18.
• Growth for 2018-19 is forecasted at 7.4 per cent by the
International Monetary Fund (IMF)
• Exports are expected to grow at 15 per cent in 2017-18.
• Fiscal deficit target for 2018-19 is set at 3.3 per cent of the
GDP
• Fiscal deficit for 2017-18 is revised to Rs 5.95 lakh crore
(US$ 93.54 billion) at 3.5 per cent of the GDP
