Lesson Overview: This lesson plan aims to help Grade 3 learners identify odd and even
numbers through play-based and interactive activities. The activities will engage
students in hands-on learning experiences to develop their understanding of odd and
even numbers. The lesson duration is approximately 60 minutes.
Lesson Procedure:
1. Introduction (5 minutes):
Gather the students in a circle and explain that they will be learning
about odd and even numbers.
Show the number cards or cubes (0-20) to the students, and ask them if
they notice any patterns.
Introduce the terms "odd" and "even" and briefly explain the difference
between the two.
Note: Please see the attached pattern for number card and cube. It must
be prepared ahead of time.
Have the students place the number card or cube in the appropriate
category on the whiteboard or chart paper labeled "Odd" and "Even."
Ask the students to count the objects and determine if they have an odd
or even number of objects.
Gather the students together and review the concepts of odd and even
numbers.
Note: Please see the attached worksheets 1 and 2. Select which worksheet is
suited to the ability of pupils. You may also group the pupils into two according to
their ability. Then give worksheet 1 to less able while worksheet 2 for more able
pupils.
Note: The lesson plan duration is approximate and may be adjusted based on the pace
of the class and learner needs.
