Chapter 1

The Problem and Its Background

Introduction

A hand tool wall-mounted cabinet keeps your hand tools nearby safe and accessible. Its

drawers are perfect for organizing all of your hardware and electrical tools. If there is one

common theme across workshops it has to be the lack of storage space. This wall-mounted tool

cabinet goes a long way to alleviate that problem. Not only does the cabinet offer enough depth

to store hand or power tools but also has a built-in electrical outlet. In addition, partition drawers

offer storage for small items you always need close at hand.

In addition, we all know that TLE departments aim to reinforce the work skill training and

value orientation of the students. It exposes the learner to a variety of experiences that are

meaningful and relevant to one's development. It has four components, Home Economics,

Agricultural Arts, Industrial Arts, and Entrepreneurship it covers almost all our daily living duties

so it most likely covers all space in faculty areas. In relation, Earist lacks space specifically

when it comes to our department so, we would like to introduce this kind of solution

To accomplish this study, the hanging hand tool cabinet with an electrical outlet was built

from a set of Fine Woodworking Playboards. The cabinet features, a plane till, multiple layers of

interior tool storage, a small bulb, and a built-in electrical outlet. The playboard for the main

cabinet compartment and doors were all cut on the table saw. To cut the tails, using a saw

works best. Since the panel is made of a veneered engineered wood product, I was able to glue

the panels using a wood glue hammer and nails to the frame which increased its rigidity. This

greatly increased tool storage, a lifesaver for small office spaces.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The hanging tool cabinet allows for optimally exploiting spaces to rearrange all the
work material tidily and efficiently. In this way, you can enrich the industrial workstation, or
the work environment in general, with an additional system for organizing equipment, tools,
components, and accessories. The cabinet is normally mounted at eye level so that the
operator can easily pick and recover the necessary material without the need to bend down
or take the strain, thus maintaining an ergonomic work position throughout all operating
phases.

Based on tool cabinets originating around the turn of the 20th century, this project
build class is a great fit for woodworkers who believe that power and hand tools can live
and work in harmony. You will be able to advance your case-making skills using traditional
and modern joinery techniques with a strong focus on ascetics that can be applied to every
furniture piece you build going forward. Along with the cabinet’s construction, significant
time will be dedicated to planning the internal layout to suit your specific tool collection.
Students should expect to leave the class with a cabinet ready for finish and a clear plan of
attack for making and installing their custom tool hangers and organizers.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Foreign Literature

According to ( Sheri Cyprus, 2023) wall cabinets play a crucial role in interior design
and home organization, providing both functional and aesthetic benefits. As an essential
element of modern living spaces, wall cabinets offer storage solutions while contributing to
the overall ambiance of a room. This literature review aims to explore various aspects of wall
cabinets, including their design trends, construction materials, installation methods, historical
development, and cultural influences. They offer storage solutions and contribute to the
overall ambiance of modern living spaces. This literature review explores wall cabinets'
design trends, construction materials, installation methods, historical development, and\
cultural influences. Wall cabinets can be found in bathrooms and kitchens, but can also be
installed in other parts of a home.
According to Smith et al. (2018) The advantages of wall cabinet tools in small
workshops were examined. They discovered that making use of vertical space by installing
cabinets on the wall dramatically boosted storage capacity, enabling users to store
necessary tools and supplies close at hand while keeping a clutter-free workflow. The
organization was improved, which increased output and effectiveness. Almost any room that
has more stuff than storage space can be expanded with wall cabinets.Wall cabinets made
to order can be created to properly match the space they are in.They can add to the
aesthetic appeal of a place while providing plenty of storage and taking up very little floor
space.

Advantages:
• Space-saving: Wall cabinets utilize vertical space, keeping the floor area clear and
maximizing
storage capacity.
• Improved organization: They help keep items organized, making it easier to find and
access
things.
• Aesthetic appeal: Wall cabinets can enhance the overall look of a room, providing a clean
and
polished appearance.
• Accessibility: Items stored in wall cabinets are within reach and don't require bending down
or
reaching into lower cabinets.
• Customizable: Wall cabinets come in various sizes, styles, and finishes, allowing you to
choose
the ones that best match your decor and storage needs.
Disadvantages:
• Limited weight capacity: Wall cabinets may have weight limitations, so you need to be
mindful of
what you store in them.
• Installation challenges: Properly installing wall cabinets can be tricky and may require tools
and
expertise.
• Not suitable for heavy items: Due to their vertical orientation, they might not be ideal for
storing
heavy or bulky items.
• Reduced accessibility for some users: Wall cabinets may be harder to reach for individuals
with
mobility issues or shorter height.
• Potential damage to walls: If not installed properly, wall cabinets can cause damage to the
wall or may not be as stable as intended.

According to Choi and Lee (2019), examined the components and building techniques
utilized in small-space wall-mounted cabinet tools.Their study underscored the need of using
materials that are both lightweight and strong such aluminum and engineered wood, to
ensure durability while reducing the strain on the wall. The proper building methods were
also emphasized, encouraging solid attachment to wall studs for increased stability.
According to Johnson and Brown (2020) examined the safety issues around
wall-mounted cabinet tools in small spaces. They talked about the importance of using
sturdy mounting hardware and distributing weight uniformly to eliminate potential risks. To
reduce any risks connected with the usage of wall-mounted cabinets, proper installation
methods and attention to safety regulations were essential.
According to Lee et al. (2021) created a variety of cutting-edge wall mounted cabinet
tools to meet the specific requirements of small apartments and compact workshops. Their
designs included foldable and modular elements that let users alter the cabinets to match
different spatial constraints. These cabinets took advantage of such adaptability, which not
only improved storage but also offered adaptable solutions for fitting into various contexts.

Based on the study of Liu et al. (2022) carried out a real world application research of
wall-mounted cabinet tools with an emphasis on kitchen areas. Their study showed how
these cabinets efficiently housed kitchen items, making the most of the little available room
while keeping a tidy environment. These uses illustrate the greater capacity of wall-mounted
cabinet tools to solve storage problems in diverse living situations.
In a research conducted by Garcia and Hernandez (2023), various wall mounted
cabinet tools were compared based on how effectively they maximized storage and saved
space. According to the study, some designs, including rotating wall cabinets or multi tiered
systems, had greater storage capacities and were therefore the best options for small
workshops or rooms with limited space. The wall mounted hanging cabinet might be
considered a "storage artifact" for compact homes. It can support a considerable amount of
weight, allows for vertical storage, takes up no floor space, has no unhygienic dead corners
when cleaned, and has an inventive and lovely appearance.
Wang and Chen (2023), looked into the financial viability of wall mounted cabinet
tools for home and small business customers. The researchers discovered that, despite
the initial outlay, wall mounted cabinet tools were a sensible investment for people
looking for efficient storage solutions in constrained locations since the long term
benefits of improved organization and better space use outweighed the expenses.
A research by Kim et al. (2023) on the ergonomics of wall- mounted cabinet tools put
a strong emphasis on user convenience and accessibility. The researchers emphasized the
value of adjustable shelves and easily accessible compartments, which allowed users to
make the best use of the cabinet space without exerting themselves and eventually helped
create a more user-friendly and effective storage solution.
In order to address environmental sustainability, Greenberg and Patel's study from
(2023) assessed the utilization of eco-friendly components and production techniques
in wall mounted cabinet equipment. The results showed that using recycled products
and energy-saving production techniques not only lessened the environmental impact
but also matched the rising demand for environmentally friendly products from
consumers.
The integration of cabinet designs into interior spaces was investigated in a study by
Nguyen and Le (2023), which examined the effect of wall-mounted cabinet tools on
overall room aesthetics. The study highlighted the significance of aesthetics in small
space solutions by demonstrating how well-designed wall mounted cabinets not only
maximized storage but also contributed to an aesthetically pleasing and harmonious
atmosphere. the reviewed literature underscores the significant impact of
wall-mounted cabinet tools on optimizing storage and organization in limited spaces.
Utilizing vertical space, selecting appropriate materials, adhering to safety guidelines,
and exploring innovative designs are essential factors in harnessing the full potential
of these tools. From comparative analysis to economic feasibility, ergonomic
considerations to environmental sustainability, and aesthetics, wall-mounted cabinet
tools offer multifaceted solutions for decluttering and improving overall efficiency in
confined areas. Whether in workshops, apartments, or small rooms, these
versatile and practical solutions have proven to be indispensable components
for users seeking effective storage solutions in limited spaces.
