TRAINING WORKSHOPS ON THE APPLICATION OF MATH CONCEPTS IN BASIC

ROBOTICS AND DESIGN THINKING PROCESS STRATEGIES FOR MATH TEACHERS IN
ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS (Phase I)

1. In reference to DO. No. 21 s, 2019 which is the Policy Guidelines on the

Implementation of K to 12 Basic Education Program, which provides concrete basis
in developing programs in Central, Regional and Division Offices , part of which is
enabling teachers be equipped , there would be a Training Workshop on the
Application of Math Concepts in Basic Robotics and Design Thinking Process
Strategies on October 21-22 for Junior HS Teachers at Naic national High School
and October 23-24, 2019 at Balsahan Elementray Schools for Elementary School
teachers respectively.

2. The objectives of the training workshop are as follow:

INTRODUCTION TO ROBOTICS WITH MATH APPLICATIONS

a. Familiarize teachers with Robotic devices/ software’s platforms used in the
classrooms and competitions.
b. Provide hands on activities to enhance learning.
c. Demonstrate how robotics education can be integrated in Math Classrooms.
DESIGN THINKING PROCESS STRATEGIES
d. Introduce design thinking process to teachers
e. Encourage teachers to incorporate content expertise in their output.
f. Embolden teachers to use Design Thinking Process Strategies in classrooms
crucial to conduct of researches, Science Investigatory Projects and
Mathematics Investigation Projects.

3. The participants are the selected math teachers attached to this memorandum are
requested to bring the following materials/ equipment:
Laptop, Borrowed Robotics kit (LEGO EV3 or NXT Kits)
2 Color Sensors (if Possible)
 Manila Papers, Worksheets, Hot Glue Gun, Lego Kits, Hot Glue Sticks, Art
Materials, Rulers, Tapes, Recyclable Materials.
4. There will be a registration fee of Php 500.00 to cover expenses for additional
supplies, am snacks and honorarium for invited discussant chargeable against
schools or district Mathematics organizational fund however the travel expenses and
other expenses are chargeable in school funds.
5. Kindly refer to the enclosures for the activity flow and executive and working
committee.
6. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum is highly expected.
