Perfluoroelastomer, FFKM

Material:
Perfluorelastomers (FFKM) is fully fluorinated elastomer which has the best ability to against extreme
environments and is also the most expensive among synthetic elastomer. In general, FFKM contains fluorine in
around 71-73% in raw material.
More fluorine help FFKM to work between -30 to 290 °C and can survive well at transient 330°C working
environment. FFKM have been designed for the most aggressive conditions, such as hot acids, alkali, esters,
ketone, alcohols and fuels; which leads to its application in semiconductor, fuel and aerospace industry. Similar as
FKM, most of end users are confused from FFKM O-rings to Dupont® Kalrez® O-rings. Dupont® is the major FFKM
O-ring suppler in the world and Kalrez® is just their product name. However, there are more suppliers around the
world also offer FFKM sealing products or O-ring with a competitive quality and price to Kalrez®.

Products:
A series of Varion™ FFKM Parts is developed by Fluorez®. technology in order to help our customer can easily trans-
fer from previous suppliers. Customers who used Kalrez® products before can also find their counterparts in our
product list. We have chemical resistance compound FC series and temperature resistance compound FT
series, and high purity FFKM in FU series. Customized compound design is welcome by request. All data sheet can
be found from our list below. We offer standard O-ring in AS-568, JIS B2401, JIS P, JIS V, JIS G, JIS S and
international metric.

FDA compliance
FDA is a US regulation and also an international standard. FDA CFR 21.177.2600 paragraphs A to D describe the relevant
regulations for “Rubber” articles intended for repeated use. FDA CFR 21.177.2600 paragraphs E and F also specify limits
on extractible products if the FDA rubber seal is to be used in contact with aqueous or fatty foods. The regulation specifies
extraction test limits in water and n-hexane.

FDA does not “approve” products for CFR 21.177.2600. It is for the manufacturer of the finished FDA rubber product to
demonstrate compliance by issuing a FDA certificate. It is also important to note that whilst a component may be made from
a FDA rubber material that is suitable for food contact; this does not mean that the part is technically suitable for its intended
application.

USP Class VI compliance

Fluoroelastomer, FKM
Material:
Fluoro-elastomers, FKM (FPM by ISO) is the designation for about 80% of fluoroelastomers as defined in
ASTM D1418. Other fluorinated elastomers are perfluoro-elastomers (FFKM) and tetrafluoro ethylene/pro-
pylene rubbers (FEPM). All FKMs contain vinylidene fluoride as a monomer. Originally developed by
DuPont® (Viton®), FKMs are today also produced by Daikin® Chemical (Dai-El®), 3M®'s Dyneon® (Dyneon®
Fluoroelastomers) and Solvay-Solexis® (Tecnoflon®). FKMs can be divided into different classes on the
basis of their chemical composition, fluorine content or crosslinking mechanism.

Generally speaking, FKM parts contains 66% fluorine, however, it is not always the case. Nowadays, there
are several FKM compounding ingredients offer higher fluorinate content to 67-70%. These high fluorinate
FKMs extends their working hour in solvent or high temperature. With certain compounding technology,
FKMs can also survive under 280 °C and constantly working at 250 °C without problem. The drawback is
its pricy cost than conventional FKM due to specialized ingredients, however, it is still very economic to
FFKM.

Femrex™ technology has our own compounding factory and laboratory, which offers customized ingredi-
ents in order to satisfy each customer’s unique need. Femrex™ is our FKM product line which includes

with a specialized environment but want to keep away from FFKM’s pricy. We offer standard O-ring in
AS-568, JIS B2401, JIS P, JIS V, JIS G, JIS S and international metric.
Viton®

VITON® Selection Guide :

Fluoroelastomer (FKM), is composed by different fluorocarbon monomers such as vinylidene fluoride (VDF),
hexafluoropropylene (HFP), tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), perfluoromethyl vinyl ether (PMVE) and ethylene (Eth-
ylene) . Each combination of fluorocarbons results in various fluorine content and specific application. Different
performance between several DuPont® Viton® FKM is presented in below table for selecting the particular grade
of Viton®.
FluorezTM technology is able to provide all types of Viton® and cost competitive equivalents to our customers.
