    Lesson #12 The Blanket

    Q1. How significant is the title of the story "The Blanket"?

    Ans:The title of the story "The Blanket" is very significant because the whole story revolves around the
    blanket. The story begins with the description of blanket and ends with it. Peter's father is sending his
    own father to Old Age House by giving him a blanket but later on changes his mind and all of them start
    living happily. The whole story is about blanket so, we can say that the title suits the play.

    Q2.Analyze the conflict in the story "The Blanket". How is it resolved?

    Ans:The conflict in the story "The Blanket" is sending granddad away to old age house for ever. This
    conflict is resolved when peter teaches his Father a harsh lesson and stops him from sending grandded
    to old age house. Peter exposes his father's guilt and he changes his mind.

    Q3.Analyse the tone of the story. To it Joyous or sorrowful? Explain

    Ans: The tone of the story is sorrowful because peter's dad is sending his old father to old age house.
    Apparently he is happy but in his heart he is very sad. We feel sorry for the old granddad when Peter
    says that this is the last night they would have together.But the story ends in a happy tone and they live
    together happily.

    Q4.What attitude does peter show about his Dad and Granddad?

    Ans. Peter shows a loving and friendly attitude towards his Granddad. Being a sensible, Kind hearted and
    caring child he shows great love for his Granddad. Peter's attitude about his father was unfriendly. He
    becomes angry when he comes to know that his father is sending Granddad to old age house.

    Q5.How is the theme of "The Blanket" the theme of our disintegration of Society as well?

    Ans:The theme of the story "The Blanket" is the disrespect and injustice of young generation towards
    old people due to their materialistic approach.towards life. Such kind of approach towards Life is also
    the main cause of the disintegration of our society as well. So, we can say that the theme. of the story
    "The Blanket" aptly befits on present day disintegrated society.

    Q6.Describe your relationship with different family members. Who your relationship is the most cordial
    with and who you stay aloof from and why? Explain.

    Ans:I have very close relationship with all my family members but my relationship with my mother is
    cordial one because she takes great care of me and provides solution to all my problems. I stay aloof
    from my elder brother because he is a very strict person and has no time to spend with us.
    Q7.If peter had been exposed to mass media, social media and internet, would he have developed the
    same intimacy with the grand father as he did in the story? Elaborate.

    Ans:If peter had been exposed to mass media, social media and internet, he would not have developed
    the same intimacy with the grandfather as he did in the story becaus being busy with internet, mobile
    phone,facebook and whatsApp, he would not have had time to sit with his grandfather and share each
    other feeling.

    Q8.why does peter's Dad get angry with the girl he is going to many?

    Ans: peter's Dad gets angry with the girl he is going to marry because she does not want granddad to
    have such an expensive double blanket. She intends to cut it into two parts, when she keeps on talking
    about this, peter's Dad gets angry with her.

    Q9.What does our religion teach about old parents?

    Ans:- Our religion Islam teaches us to respect the elders whether thay are your parents, relatives or any
    other old person. Allah says in the Holy Quran that Obey Allah, His prophet (SAW) and be kind and good
    to your parents, and if one or both of them reach their old age, do not hurt them with harsh words.
