B. The static ports are located on the lower side of the cabin fuselage.
C. The removal/installation of all static ports is typical.
2. Static Port Removal/Installation
A. Remove Static Port (Refer to Figure 401).
(1) Disengage (open) LH PITOT STATIC circuit breaker or RH PITOT STATIC circuit breaker corresponding to system under
maintenance.
(2) Identify, tag and disconnect electrical wires from static port.
(3) Remove static line. Refer to Pitot Static Lines - Maintenance Practices.
(4) Remove elbow from static port.
(5) From the outside of the airplane, drill out the rivets securing the static port to the airplane skin.
CAUTION: A sealant is used between the static port and airplane skin. Use caution when removing the port to
prevent damage to the skin.
(6) Use a spatula-type blade to loosen the existing bond between the static port and airplane skin.
(7) Remove static port from airplane skin.
B. Install Static Ports (Refer to Figure 401).
(1) Verify that the corresponding circuit breaker is disengaged (open).
(2) Clean all faying surfaces prior to installation of static ports.
(3) Apply sealant to faying surface. Refer to Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure and High Temperature Sealing -
Maintenance Practices.
CAUTION: Use extreme care in driving rivets to prevent damage to the heating element and prevent damage to the
airplane skin.
(4) Position the static port in place on the airplane skin and secure with rivets.
NOTE: Verify that holes in static ports and airplane skin are 0.125 inch diameter.
NOTE: If rivet holes do not align, rotate static port until new rivet holes can be drilled halfway between
existing holes.
(5) Install elbow in static port.
(6) Connect static line. Refer to Pitot Static Lines - Maintenance Practices.
(7) Identify and connect the electrical wires to the static port. Check static port heaters for proper operation. Refer to
Adjustment/Test.
CAUTION: Verify that sealant has cured sufficiently (minimum of 24 hours) before conducting a pitot static leak
check.
(8) Do a pitot/static system leak test. Refer to Air Data Systems - Inspection/Check (Airplanes not Certified for RVSM
Operation) or Air Data Systems - Inspection/Check (Airplanes -0275 thru -0689 Certified for RVSM Operation) as
