    WEEK 6 SESSION 1

    SPEAKING Can we meet tomorrow?

    Activity 1: (5 minutes)

    Present the digital lesson.


    Shift students’ attention into
    the photo and the
    introduction. Ask them:

    1. Where is the woman?


    2. What is she doing?
    3. What is she wearing?

    Activity 2: (15 minutes)

    Tell students they are going


    to listen to a conversation
    between Harry and Kate
    about scheduling a meeting.
    Play the audio once. Do not
    show students the transcript
    yet.

    Ask the students to fill in the blank. After filling in the blank, invite 2 students to role-play the
    dialogue. Explain some expressions if needed.

    Kate: Hi Harry. How are you?


    Harry: Hi Kate. I’m fine thanks. How are you?
    Kate: Fine, thanks. Listen, can we meet (1) tomorrow. We need to talk about the new
    products.
    Harry: Sorry, I’m (2) busy this afternoon. What about (3) tomorrow Can you meet in the
    morning?
    Kate: Sorry, I can’t meet in the morning tomorrow.
    Harry: That’s okay. When can you meet?
    Kate: I’m not busy in the (4) morning tomorrow. Can you meet then?
    Harry: Yes, I can.
    Kate: Good. When do you want to meet?
    Harry: (5) Let’s meet at three o’clock.
    Kate: Great, see you tomorrow

    Activity 3: (10 minutes)

    For each item, play the audio once and teach the vocabulary. Then invite some students to
    repeat the bold word and the sentence. Correct pronunciation if necessary.

    Ask students several questions relevant to the images and sentences.

    For example:
    - Are you busy at school?
    - Why are you busy?

    Can we meet
    SPEAKING
    tomorrow?

    Activity 1: (10 minutes) Fill in the blank with the correct position
    1. Can we meet on Monday?
    2. I'm going to visit my grandparents in October.
    3. Can you please call me at 3pm?
    4. Are you free on Sunday afternoon?
    5. Let’s go to the zoo in the morning?
    6. Let's meet at the corner of Brook and Benton Street
    7. Was the park on Nguyen Dinh Chieu street?
    8. Were you home at midnight yesterday?
    9. I don’t have classes so we can hang around on Friday.
    10. Did you see the boy at the end of the street?

    Activity 2: (30 minutes) Put your students in A/B pairs practice this language by finding a
    time and day to do something in their free time with their partner. They can use some activities
    and expressions below to practice

    Go shopping Making plans Suggesting a better time


    Go to the cinema/watch a Can we meet ….? I’m not free …., but how about …?
    movie 3
    Are you free/available ….? I’m busy….. I already have plans.
    Go swimming Can we try ……?
    Do you have any plans ….?
    Go for a walk I’m sorry, I’m not available ……... I
    Do you have any time …..?
    Do you have free time …..?

    SPEAKING Can we meet tomorrow?

    Role-play (25 minutes)


    Explain that students are now going to practice this language by finding a time and day to do something in their
    free time with their partner. Put your students in A/B pairs. Direct them to the speech bubbles and ask them to use
    the words to make questions or possible responses for the conversation. They can use their own ideas, too. After
    they’ve role-played the conversation once, get students to switch roles and do it again. Monitor their
    conversations and make notes of problems or examples of good language use to share with the class when they’ve
    finished.
