Circuit/System Description
The fuel rail pressure sensor is a dual analog sensor that
provides two fuel rail pressure signals to the
engine control module (ECM). The ECM provides a 5-V
reference voltage on the 5-V reference
circuit and ground on the low reference circuit. The ECM
receives a varying signal voltage on both
the fuel rail pressure sensor and fuel rail pressure sensor-2
signal circuits. The ECM monitors the
voltage on both of the fuel rail pressure sensor circuits and
compares the values to determine if the
sensors are accurate. When the fuel pressure is high, the fuel
rail pressure sensor signal voltage is high
and the fuel rail pressure sensor-2 signal voltage is low. When
the fuel pressure is low, the fuel rail
pressure sensor signal voltage is low and the fuel rail pressure
sensor-2 signal voltage is high.
Conditions for Running the DTC
P0191
DTC-P0192 or P0193 is not set.

Ignition ON.

The Start-up Engine Coolant Temperature is greater than -
40°C (-40°F).

Engine OFF time is greater than 35-s.

Ignition voltage is greater then 11-V.

The DTC run continuously when the above conditions are
met.

P0192 or P0193
The engine is running.

Battery voltage is greater than 11-V.

The DTCs run continuously when the above conditions are
met.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
P0191
The ECM detects that the fuel rail pressure sensor-1 signal
voltage is less than 0.3-V or greater than
0.7- for 1-s with the ignition ON.
P0192
The ECM detects that the fuel rail pressure sensor-1 signal
voltage is less than 0.25-V for more than
1-s.
P0193
The ECM detects that the fuel rail pressure sensor-1 signal
voltage is greater than 4.75-V for more
than 1-s
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTCs P0191, P0192, and P0193 are Type A DTCs.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTCs P0191, P0192, and P0193 are Type A DTCs.
Circuit/System Verification
Verify that DTC-P0116, P0117, P0118, P0119, P0128, or P111E is
not set.
1.
If DTC-P0116, P0117, P0118, P0119, P0128, or P111E is set
Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.

If DTC-P0116, P0117, P0118, P0119, P0128, or P111E is not set

Engine running.
2.
Verify scan tool parameter Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor is
between 0.4-4.5-V and changes with
engine load conditions.
3.
If not between 0.4-4.5-V or does not change
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

If between 0.4-4.5-V and changes

Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the
DTC. You may also operate the
4.
vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the
Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify DTC-P0191, P0192, or P0193 is not set.
5.
If DTC-P0191, P0192, or P0193 is set
Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

If DTC-P0191, P0192, or P0193 is not set

All OK.
6.
Circuit/System Testing
Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF. It may take up to 2
minutes for all vehicle systems to
power down.
1.
Disconnect the harness connector at the B47B-Fuel Rail
Pressure Sensor.
2.
Test for less than 10-

3.
If 10-

or greater

Ignition OFF.
1.
Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K20-Engine
Control Module.
2.
Test for less than 2-
