The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC

All NAAC accredited institutions will submit an annual self-reviewed progress report to NAAC, through
its IQAC. The report is to detail the tangible results achieved in key areas, specifically identified by the
institutional IQAC at the beginning of the academic year. The AQAR will detail the results of the
perspective plan worked out by the IQAC. (Note: The AQAR period would be the Academic Year. For

3.26 Major Activities during the year in the sphere of extension activities and Institutional Social
Responsibility

 Regular Programme which is organized throughout the year (120 hours)

5. Student Support and Progression
5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services
In collaboration with Dean, students and the International Centre for University of
Madras, the IQAC has conducted the orientation programme for newly admitted
students and international students. During the meeting the students are informed about
all aspects of course, curriculum as well as the available resources on campus.

5.2 Efforts made by the institution for tracking the progression

The office of the Controller of Examination has successfully continued the practice of
conducting instant examination for those students who have failed in one subject in the
final semester. This practice is to ensure that the students don’t waste an academic year

6. Governance, Leadership and Management


6.1 State the Vision and Mission of the institution
Our Mission is to impart quality higher education in consonance with our motto “learning
promotes natural talent”. We strive to develop citizens with knowledge, skill and character
leading to societal transformation and national development. We aim at making our
students men and women, who offer their selfless service for the progress of the country
and people.

6.3 Quality improvement strategies adopted by the institution for each of the following:

6.3.1 Curriculum Development

 The CBCS Handbook was revised to include detailed information required by


students from admission to graduation and certification and the same was
uploaded in the University website.
 Chairpersons of UG/PG/Common Boards were requested to revise the syllabus
of all the courses offered in University Departments and affiliated colleges

6.3.2 Teaching and Learning

 New courses introduced B.Voc. in Retail Management and Information


Technology, B.Voc. in Hospitality and Tourism and PG Diploma in Banking and
Finance (Self-Supportive Courses)

 53 research fellow ship have been created for 29 science departments


under the DST-PURSE.
 Share on research on prison and rehabilitation of prisoners have been set
up with the funding of Rs.1.2 crores from the Government of Tamil Nadu
 Received sanction for the implementation of UPE Phase II
 National Centre for Nuro Taxicity Research to assist drug development
has been instituted at the University

6.3.5 Library, ICT and physical infrastructure / instrumentation

 An additional 2.66 lakh sq.ft. have been added to the physical


infrastructure by way of the construction of student amenity centre,
academic staff college guest house, research scholar and international
student hostel, nano science building, multi-storied building and
insectarium.
 Construction of building university constituent college at Nemmeli at a
cost of Rs.7.3 crore

6.3.6 Human Resource Management


 Common offering of Elective courses across departments to ensure a
multi-disciplinary focus as well as to optimize the faculty
specializations available in house

 Recruitment of 117 professors, assistant professors, principles (2) for the


various departments and two constituent colleges of University as per
