Repeated and momentary Short Circuit currents due to capacitor switching will have impact on the life of the transformer
Repeated and momentary short circuit currents due to capacitor switching will impact the life of the transformer
Welding of the contactor contacts due to high inrush currents resulting in continuous undesirable over-compensation. Blowing of fuses due to high current, causing under-compensation or unbalanced compensation on network.
Power fluctuation and voltage decay will result in contactors tending to chatter rapidly leading to very high inrush currents due to repeated short circuits. Manual operation is very much dependent on the operator. Any lapse on the part of the operator may lead to improper achievement of P .F. resulting in financial loss.
Power fluctuation and voltage decay will result in contactors tending to chatter rapidly leading to very high inrush currents due to repeated short circuits. Contactors and capacitors deteriorate in performance over a time, resulting in down time and non availability of compensation. (contd..2)
The capacitor bank unit remains in useful operational service with maximum up time.
MANUAL SWITCHING
CONTACTOR SWITCHING
Switching ON of the capacitors using contactors causes problem of chattering when operating the contactors at very low voltage resulting in very high inrush currents due to repeated short circuits. Compensation at extremely low voltage is not possible. High inrush current increases the possibility of MPP capacitors exploding & catching fire because of the excessive pressure generated inside the capacitor unit due to its self healing property. Life of the capacitors progressively deteriorates. At the time of switch ON, heavy sparks are generated at the contact tips of the contactors causing dangerous situation like fire, short circuits etc. Usually 25 kV Ar banks are provided and with these close compensation is not possible. In case of operation through an operator, close compensation impossible. P .F. cannot be maintained at 0.99/1.00 constantly because of slow switching of upto 2 minutes or more. Reswitching is not possible until the capacitor is fully discharged Much larger cabinet size is required.

Compensation at extremely low voltage is possible. 5. The point of capacitor switching is controlled and hence life of the capacitor unit and switching unit is maximised.
8. By maintaining P .F. at 0.99/1.00 datar RTPFC augments your existing network capacity by 8 to10% because of ultra fast switching within 40 to 60 milliseconds. 9. datar RTPFC System is available in compact cabinet size
