(d) Last metering cartridge/cartridges in every branch of lubrication line must be upward. (e) Divide the main line into 2 or 3 branches near the pump, instead of routing one single line around the machine. This will minimise the tube length and give better appearance and ease of maintenance of system. The secondary line (4mm OD tube) joining metering cartridges to lubrication points should be of minimum length. This is to avoid unnecessary time for filling secondary tube by lubrication impulse while commissioning lubrication system.

(g) Connect outlet of each metering cartridge to one lubrication point only. (h) Use flexible tube (nylon or rubberised hose) for moving parts of the machine. (i) In case of lubrication point situated in the hot zone of the machine (or the zone where hot metal chips are likely to fall such as on the fixture), do not use nylon tube.
(A) = Total Dosage of all metering cartridges used in the system. (B) = Length of primary flexible tubing in meter. In case pump output is less, select bigger size of pump. 6. Select manifolds such that a manifold caters to all the lubrication points existing in the same vicinity. 7. As regards layout of tubings and fittings it shall be so arranged that air which has entered the system may escape through lubrication points. .or this purpose, following points are to be observed: (a) Preferably pump be installed at a place on the machine where oil level can be checked and refilling of oil can be done conveniently.
8. While commissioning centralised lubrication on a machine, loosen the last plug/plugs screwed on the manifolds in each branch of main line. Give few lubrication impulses so that main line gets filled with the oil up to the end and oil starts leaking from the loosened plugs. Tight the plugs. Now give few lubrication impulses, until oil from all the metering cartridges reaches up-to lubrication points on the machine. Once this is achieved, the system becomes ready for use. 9. As regards frequency of lubrication, it may vary from few minutes to few hours depending upon the kind and load of machines.

These pumps are suitable for Manual Centralised Lubrication System of light duty automatic machines such as Small power presses, Packing machines, Die punching machines, Milling machines, Single spindle automats, Looms, Surface grinders, Pouch filling machines etc. etc. Normally these pumps are suitable for 2-40 lubrication points. These pumps are very simple in construction. The construction is spring return piston type. The piston is operated by pulling a cam handle. The other salient features are strainer at the inlet port, a pressure reducing system which is very important for proper operation of metering cartridges.
Normally outlet is on right hand side of the pump. However pumps with outlet at left hand side and with outlets at both sides are also available. The pump outlet is suitable for direct fitment of 6 mm OD tube without help of any other fitting. The outlet thread size is M 10x1 (.). Relief valve to flow back excess oil is also provided with these pumps. The pumps are provided with oil level gauge for visibility of oil in reservoir. (Model H-7 is without reservoir). Always fill clean oil to get better life and trouble free operation of these pumps. It is not recommended to operate dry pump. Pumps are suitable for oil with viscosity range 40-1000 cst.

METERING CARTRIDGES
In single shot centralised lubrication system, amount of oil at each lubrication point is controlled by using the element known as METERING CARTRIDGE. .or each lubrication point at least one metering cartridge shall be used. The metering cartridge is a kind of mini-cylinder with a check valve, where stroke of piston determines the amount of ejected oil. It is designed such that every time when pump is operated, SIZE D1
it ejects out predetermined amount of oil. When pressure is released, the cartridge gets recharged. .or proper recharging of metering cartridges there shall be a small time gap in between subsequent operations of pumps (min. 1 minute). Maximum permissible pressure for metering cartridge is 40 Kg/ Cm2. Minimum working pressure is 8 Kg/Cm2 and pressure shall drop to less than 1 Kg/Cm2 in between successive operations. SIZE D2 SIZE D3

.ollowing kinds of tube connections are available for single shot lubrication system :

STEEL TUBES : These are copper coated welded steel tubes with thickness of 0.89 mm. a) Steel Tube 6 mm OD : Tube with 6 mm OD is used for primary/mainline. It has smallest bending radius of 22 mm and permissible pressure more than 200 Kg/cm2. Steel Tube 4 mm OD : Tube with 4 mm OD is used for secondary line. It has a smallest bending radius of 8 mm and permissible pressure more than 200 Kg/Cm2.
NYLON TUBES : These are semi transparent flexible tube of material nylon 6. These tubes are easy to work with. These are necessary for points, which have motion. To increase tubes life, these can be protected by suitable size of springs available with us one metre length. Thickness of these tubes is 1 mm. a) Nylon Tube 6 mm OD : This tube has minimum bending radius of 70 mm and maximum permissible operating pressure 45 Kg/Cm2. Nylon Tube 4 mm OD : This tube has minimum bending radius of 50 mm and maximum permissible operating pressure 60 Kg/Cm2.

HOSES : Hoses are used for points where flexibility is a must and also mechanical strength required is more such as sharp edges, area with movement of heavy components, chip falling area in machine tool etc. etc. These hoses are made of synthetics rubber with textile re-inforcement. a) Hose with 6 mm OD steel ends : Hoses are supplied with reuseable type end fittings, with 6 mm OD round ends of 25 mm length. These ends act like steel tubes ends. This hose has ID of 6.3 mm and has a operating pressure of 28 Kg/Cm2.

ROTARY PUMPS
POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT TYPE
Constructionwise these are of two types. 1. 2. 1. .LANGE TYPE INSERT TYPE Non-Reversible : In these pumps shaft can rotate only as per the direction shown by an arrow on the pump. Suction & Pressure port are indicated accordingly. While ordering please specify the direction of rotation of shaft clockwise or anticlockwise while looking from shaft end. 2. Reversible : In these pumps shaft can rotate in either direction. Suction & pressure ports are indicated accordingly. Minimum R.P.M. of shaft required is 500. .irst, Select the type of pump as per the design & space of the machine. Select the size as per the oil capacity required. Check power requirement of drive element taking into consideration size and maximum working pressure. Check direction of rotation of pump shaft and accordingly connect suction port to the suction side and output port to the pressure line. Check suction height is within limits. Suction height shall not be more than 1000 mm at 1500 rpm of shaft with oil viscocity 68 cst. .or higher viscocity this has to be reduced. Also suction tube and suction strainer shall be of proper size to avoid cavitation. Use proper suction strainer. This is very important for pump life. Use relief valve as per requirement to avoid unnecessary loading of pump. 17

This Pump meant for feeding grease to bearings and other moving parts of machines such as Calendaring machines, Mixing machines, Rolling mills, Bending machines, .urnaces and other likely machines having 1-20 lubrication points. (Model MGP-600-2 for 1-6 points and Model MGP-1500-6 for 1-20 points). The pump consists of various parts as shown in the diagram. When the handle is pulled, grease is sucked through the suction port. While pushing handle this grease come out under pressure through a check valve and is supplied to the grease pipelines.
The pump has reservoir, which can be either of acrylic or Mild Steel (as per the customer's choice). A tell tale rod indicates the level of grease and a follower plate assembly helps in providing positive suction of the grease. Grease filling in the reservoir can be done manually as per the procedure given below. .or those who want to fill grease by another pump, a 1/4" BSP port is provided on right hand side of the pump. This port is normally plugged. Pump has got outlet ports of 1/4" BSP on both sides (Right hand side and Left hand side). Normally left hand side is plugged and check valve is fitted on right hand side. However, if required, this plug and check valve can be interchanged.

Handle grease with utmost care for cleanliness. Use pipes of maximum possible I.D. for smooth operation of pump. Avoid sharp bends in piping. With lengthy pipes of small diameter and sharp bends pipe resistance may increase to the level that pump may not operate at all. In such case use bigger dia pipes.

These pumps are hand driven. The number of rotation of cam is half of handle rotations. Maximum operating pressure for this pump is 100 kg./cm.sq. Pump is suitable for applications where grease requirements is low. The force required on the handle is not much and pump is very light in operation. By using 6 mm OD tubes, grease can be supplied easily as far as 10 metre long distances. The main element of this pump is pumping unit one for each point. Plunger of each pumping unit is given a reciprocating motion with the help of a cam. The pumps are provided with a stirrer to provide positive suction of grease and minimize air trapping. Pumping units are of output capacity - 0.05-025cc for every rotation of cam. 22
Reservoir of aluminium and has a volume capacity of 2 Ltrs. The pump can accommodate maximum 10 Nos. pumping units. In case, less units are required a unit can be removed and a plug with thread size M22x1.5 with sealing ring is to be used. Do not plug output of any pumping unit. If not required, remove it and plug it. While using this pump it is very important to use clean good quality greases of viscosity up to grade NLG-2, Spurious grease, impurities and foreign elements as chips etc. may damage the pumps.
MULTIPOINT LUBRICATORS
MODEL : MMPOL Maximum output per point per minute n' is input shaft RPM. PUMPING UNIT It is actually a small plunger pump which gives metered output of lubricant for every stroke. The stroke of the plunger is always same. However internal construction is such that by rotating adjusting screw clockwise, output is reduced and by anti-clockwise rotation output is increased. If and when required an individual pumping unit can be changed, removed or added. APPLICATION MULTIPOINT LUBRICATORS are used for Centralised Lubrication of machines like : Rolling Mills, Calendering Machines, Sugar machines. Cement Machines, Hydro Turbines, Stone Crushers, .orging Hammers etc. They are very simple in design and require little maintenance. These typeof lubricators are fitted on a machine suitably and are connected to the lubrication points by means of welded/seamless steel tubes, rubber hoses and compression type fittings & clamps. Details of various Multipoint Lubricators available with us are shown on following pages. CONSTRUCTION The main element of various Multipoint Lubricators is pumping unitsone for each point. Plunger of each pumping unit is given a reciprocating motion with the help of a cam. The cam itself rotates at suitable RPM by any machine shaft or with the help of an electric motor and a gear box. .or grease lubricators a deflector/ stirrer also rotates with cam. The helps in creating positive suction of great and minimises air trapping. Lubricators driven by electric motors are normally run intermittently. .or this purpose cycle timers are used which are available as per requirement. Pumping units output is adjustable with maximum capacity of 0.25cc per stroke. Lubricant output from each point of multipoint lubricators can be calculated as per the following formula :

CAUTION Do not plug output of any pumping unit. If not required, remove it and plug it (Ask for plug M-22x1.5 with sealing ring). Cleanliness of lubricant is of utmost importance. Spurious Grease or contaminated oil may damage the lubricator.

The pump consists of various parts as shown in the drawing. When compressed air is applied at port 'A' of Pneumatic Cylinder grease is sucked through the suction port. With the help of a Direction Control Valve and a timer compressed air is applied at port 'B'. With regular intervals grease comes
out under pressure through a Check valve. This grease is supplied to the grease pipe-lines.

CONSTRUCTION
1. Progressive blocks are assembled with three types of element blocks: (a) Starting block A', (b) Middle Block M' and (c) End Block E'. Each middle block 'M' has two outlet connections. Minimum three middle blocks are required for operation of a progressive block. Smallest progressive block has 6 outlets (3 middle blocks) that can be reduced to two outlets by their connections. There can be any number of middle blocks. The number marked on the middle block divided by one hundred indicates volume of lubricant in Cm3 cc that will be delivered from the corresponding outlets of next middle block. (Please refer example of Block No. 1 PB-6080-4-8) Sealing of element block is by O-rings.

SPECIAL .EATURES
.ollowing are the design features of these progressive block : 1. Middle blocks can have different spool sizes to have different deliveries from different outlets in same cycle. But both outlets of a block will give same dose to the corresponding outlets of next block. (Refer table in progressive blocks drawing). Output of outlets of middle blocks can be joined together by removing a separate screw and a washer shown in figure and plugging one of the outlet. This will double the volume in the other remaining outlet.

IMPORTANT
.ollowing is to be observed while using these progressive blocks : 1. The progressive blocks shall be mounted only on the machined surface. If machined surface is not available, it is necessary to use packing washers between blocks and mounting surface. 2. While commissioning the system, sometimes it is required to bleed the block. Bleed the system by loosing one by one the piston butt screws of first middle block by one turn. After bleeding tighten the screw. 3. As far as possible connect secondary lines with the lubrication points only after lubricant reaches end points at all the tubes. (A must for grease system). 4. Always use clean lubricants. This is very very essential. 5. In case at any stage no. of middle element blocks is to be changed or outlet configuration is to be changed, it shall be done at our works or only by experts who understand thoroughly the working of these blocks. 28
