Technology for object sorting – TCS3200
Color Sensor
Features:
 Working Voltage- 3.5V DC
 Strong anti interference ability
 Single supply operation- 2.7V to 5.5V
 High resolution conversion of light
intensity to frequency
 Communicates directly to
Microcontroller
 Pinout
Here’s the sensor pinout:
Working of TCS3200 sensor:
 Photodiode converts light into current
 To detect the intensity of the different colors.

 Current-to-frequency converter that converts the photodiodes’ readings into a square

wave with a frequency
 Filter Selection:
Photodiodes are connected in parallel, setting the S2 and S3 LOW and
High in different combinations allows you to select different photodiodes.
 Frequency Scaling
Pins S0 and S1 are used for scaling the output frequency.
Component Description
A. Arduino Uno
Technical Specification:
 Microcontroller- Microchip ATmega328p
 Operating Voltage- 5 Volt
 Input Voltage – 7 to 20 volts
 Digital I/O Pins- 14 ( of which 6 provide PWM output)
 Analog Input Pins- 6
 Dc current per I/O Pin- 20mA
 DC current for 3.3V Pin- 50mA
 Flash Memory- 32KB of which 0.5KB used by bootloader
 SRAM: 2KB
 EEPROM- 1KB
 Clock Speed- 16MHz
B. Servo Motor

 Position at various angles, usually 0 and 180 degrees

 Shaft to be set to various speed
 Specification:
1. Operating voltage: 4.8 V
2. Operating speed : 0.1s/60 degree
3. Torque : 1.8kgf.cm
4. Temperature range: ( 0 to 55) C
 Circuit:

Three wires-
1. Power wire
2. Ground wire
3. Signal Wire
Working of the model

 Supply 3.4V to the DC motor

 Light falls on the product
 Filters
 Frequency -
No object – 330Hz
Object – 7-14KHz
 Color Skittles are held in the
charger
Circuit Diagram
Result

 The final result of the project was quite satisfactory.

 To detect pink, yellow and blue colour nicely
 Servo motors worked well in both cases of platform & guide rail.
Advantage

 Fast
 Accurate
 Good Repeatability
 Reduce labour cost
 Less human Interference
 Fully Automatic Operation
Application

 In production units to scan and identify the defects in raw materials.

 In fruits and vegetable farming areas (rural areas) where installation of
expensive sorters is very difficult.
 In malls (to segregate and separate different clothes, toys, bags etc.) and in
small shop.
Future Scope

 It is very useful in wide varieties of industries along with the help of PLC and
SCADA, especially in the packaging section.
 Automatic sorting machine enhances efficiency, practicality, and safety of
operators.
 It ensures remarkable processing capacity as well as peerless performance
including color detection.
Conclusion

 The suggested framework will be a demo rendition which gives expense

effective, taking less time and technically the easiest way for differentiating
objects.
 This framework utilizes Arduino Uno which makes this model simple to utilize
which is more additional effective.
