INFORMATION
Informational/factual text

◦ Defined as text with the primary purpose expressing information


about arts, science or social media.

This type of text ranges from newspaper and magazine articles to


digital information to non-fiction trade books ‘textbook’ and
reference materials.
◦ It allows learners to develop sophisticated comprehension skills,
build critical content knowledge and vocabulary, and apply
higher-order thinking skills.

lesson but we will ellaborate this for today’s lesson.

Actually, there are specially four types of informational text:

Literary Non-fiction
Procedural Texts

Expository Texts
Argument

Persuasion Texts
LITERARY NON-FICTION
◦ Includes shorter texts, such as “personal essays, speeches,
opinion pieces, essays about arts or literature,
biographies,autobiographies, memoirs, journalism, and
historical,scientific, technical or economic accounts (including
digital sources) written for a broad audience.”
Narrative informational text typically communicates accurate
information and has a well-defined beginning, middle, and end.

◦ A type of narrative based on actual perons, places and things.

previous lesson but here in expository they are being combined.

Provide evidence with the intent of influencing the beliefs or
actions of the target audience.

◦ These texts typically includes claims, evidence, and warrants to


explain how the evidence is linked to the claims.
◦ Writers of persuasion or argument also make appeals;
