"In it for the right reasons"
The Challenger Explosion - Teacher in Space Project. I was in first grade in Columbus, Ohio. We were in class watching the historic event. Lift off was beautiful and exciting, we watched as the shuttle went higher and higher, the teachers clapping, then gasp. Our teacher calmly walked to the televeison and shut it off. She didn't tell us exactly what happend, instead she asked us to bow our heads and pray. Even at our young age, we all knew what happened. A few months after the explosion, we moved to Kansas where I was the first 3rd grade class at Christa McAuliffe Elentary. The school which was named after the Teacher/Astronaut killed that day.
Road Less Traveled by Lauren Alaina - I call it my campaign song!

Of course building positive relationships with fello legislators is crucial. Without mutual respect and trust, it's impossible to have meaningful debates and come to amicible solutions. Some of my closest friends have opposite opinions on politics, yet we have great discussions and can usually come to a meeting of the minds.
