Consider [it] all joy, my brothers, whenever you encounter various trials, [because you] know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have [its] perfect effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.
And we know that all [things] work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to [his] purpose,
You must not fear, for I [am] with you; you must not be afraid, for I [am] your God. I will strengthen you, indeed I will help you, indeed I will take hold of you with the right hand of my salvation.
A man of [many] friends will come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
I have said these [things] to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have affliction, but have courage! I have conquered the world."
But those who wait for Yahweh shall renew [their] strength. They shall go up [with] wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not be faint.
Temptation has not come upon you except [what is] common to humanity. But God [is] faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will also make a way out together with the temptation, [so that you] may be able to endure [it].
For I know the plans that I [am] planning concerning you,' {declares} Yahweh, 'plans for prosperity and not for harm, to give to you a future and a hope.
Therefore we do not lose heart, but even if our outer person is being destroyed, yet our inner [person] is being renewed day after day. For our momentary light affliction is producing in us an eternal weight of glory {beyond all measure and proportion}, [because] we are not looking at what is seen, but what is not seen. For what is seen [is] temporary, but what is not seen [is] eternal.
Even when I walk in a dark valley, I fear no evil because you [are] with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me
Taste and see that Yahweh [is] good; blessed [is] the man [who] takes refuge in him.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? [Will] affliction or distress or persecution or hunger or lack of sufficient clothing or danger or the sword?
A righteous person will seek out his neighbor, but the way of the wicked will lead them astray.
And call me in [the] day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me."
Yahweh upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.
They cry out and Yahweh hears and delivers them from all [of] their troubles.
Come to me, all [of you] who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
What then shall we say about these [things]? If God [is] for us, who [can be] against us?
The one who conquers, I will grant to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also have conquered and have sat down with my Father on his throne.
Blessed [is] the person who endures testing, because [when he] is approved he will receive the crown of life that he has promised to those who love him. No one who is being tempted should say, "I am being tempted by God," for God {cannot be tempted} by evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each one is tempted [when he] is dragged away and enticed by his own desires.read more.
Then desire, [after it] has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, [when it] is brought to completion, gives birth to death.
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, [when it] takes place to test you, as [if] [something] strange were happening to you. But to the degree that you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that also at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice [and] be glad.
Be sober; be on the alert. Your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
No one has greater love than this: that someone lay down his life for his friends.
{When} he finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan became attached to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his [own] soul. Better a rebuke that is open than a love that is hidden. The wounds of a friend mean well, but the kisses of an enemy are profane.

Adversity » Sometimes the result of sin and folly
I {in turn} will do this to you: then I will summon onto you horror, the wasting disease, and the fever that wastes eyes and that drains away life; and you shall sow your seed {in vain}, and your enemies shall eat it.
Your ox [shall] [be] slaughtered before your eyes, and you shall not eat it; your donkey [shall be] stolen [right] {before you}, and it shall not be returned to you; your sheep and your goats [shall] be given to your enemies, and {there shall not be anyone who rescues you}.

[They will become] weakened by famine, and consumed by plague and bitter pestilence; and the teeth of wild animals I will send against them, with [the] poison of [the] creeping [things] in [the] dust;
