Then Jesus said to his disciples: If any one determines to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever will save his life, shall lose it. But whoever will lose his life for my sake, shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he gain the whole world, but lose his own life? Or, what will a man give as the ransom of his life?
And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them: Whoever determines to follow after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Take heed to yourselves; if your brother sin against you, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Let the word of the Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, by teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with gratitude in your hearts to the Lord.
We exhort you, brethren, admonish the unruly, comfort the faint-hearted, earnestly care for the weak-minded, be of a long-suffering disposition toward all.
And if any one obey not our word by this letter, note that man, and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed; and yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and teaching.
Speak these things, and exhort and rebuke with all strictness. Let no one despise you.
But Peter said: Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart, that you should at tempt to deceive the Holy Spirit, and keep back part of the price of the land? But when I saw that they did not walk uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter, before them all: If you, being a Jew, live after the manner of the Gentiles, and not after the manner of the Jews, why do you compel the Gen tiles to observe Jewish customs?
