And He, answering, said, "Did you not read that He Who made them from the beginning made them 'male and female,' and said, 'For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh?" so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What, therefore, God joined together, let not man put asunder."

because a husband is head of the wife, as Christ also is Head of the assembly; Himself the Savior of the body.

But I wish you to know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the wife is the husband, and the head of Christ is God.

So ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as also Christ the assembly; because we are members of His body.read more.
For this cause, will a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking of Christ and of the assembly. Nevertheless, do ye also, severally, each one, so love his own wife, as himself; and let the wife see that she fear her husband.

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter toward them.

Ye husbands, in like manner, dwell with them according to knowledge, assigning honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered.

Let the husband render to the wife her due; and, in like manner, the wife to the husband. The wife has not authority over her own body, but the husband; and, in like manner also, the husband has not authority over his own body, but the wife. Defraud not one the other, except by consent for a Season, that ye may have leisure for prayer, and may be together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.

"Ye heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I say to you, that every one who looks upon a woman, to lust after her, already committed adultery with her in his heart.

For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified in the brother; else your children are unclean; but as it is they are holy. But, if the unbelieving departs, let him depart. The brother or the sister has not come into bondage in such cases; but God hath called us in peace. For what do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or what do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wishing to make an example of her, purposed privately to divorce her. And, while thinking of these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to yourself Mary your wife; for that which was begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit.read more.
And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus; for He will save His people from their sins." Now all this has come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel," which is, being interpreted, God with us. And Joseph, arising from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord directed him, and took to himself his wife; and he knew her not, until she brought forth a Son, and he called His name Jesus.

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved the assembly, and delivered Himself up for it, that He might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of the water in the word, that He might present to Himself the assembly, glorious, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that it may be holy and without blemish.

Then came to Him the disciples of John, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Thy disciples fast not?" Jesus said to them, "Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn while the Bridegroom is with them! But there will come days, when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then will they fast."

And John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they come and say to Him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Thy disciples fast not?" And Jesus said to them, "Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast; but there will come days when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

And they said to Him, "The disciples of John fast often, and make supplications; likewise also those of the Pharisees; but Thine are eating and drinking!" And Jesus said to them, "Can ye make the sons of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come; and, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then they will fast in those days."

For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy; for I espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a pure virgin to Christ;

And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
