For, from ancient times, Moses has, in every city, those who preach him, being read in the synagogue every sabbath-day.

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and, as his custom was, he entered the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and stood up to read.

After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying: Brethren, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, speak.

But their minds were blinded: for till this day, in the reading of the old covenant, the same vail remains not taken away, which vail is removed in Christ. But to this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart:

But he said to them: Have you not read what David did, when he and those who were with him were hungry? how he entered the house of God, and ate the loaves of the presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but for the priests only? Or, have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath-days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?

And he said to them: Did you never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry, he and those who were with him? How he entered the house of God in the days of Abiathar the chief priest, and ate the loaves of the presence, which, it is not lawful, except for the priests, to eat, and gave to those also who were with him?

And Jesus answered and said to them: Have you not read even that which David did, when he was hungry him self, and those who were with him, that he entered the house of God, and took the loaves of the presence, and ate, and gave to those also who were with him, which it is not lawful, except for the priests alone, to eat?

and they said to him: Do you not hear what these say? And Jesus said to them: Yes; have you never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

Have you not read this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner; this was from the Lord, and it is wondrous in our eyes?

And he looked on them and said: What, then, does this mean, which is written, The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner?

But, concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying:

When, therefore, you see that detestable thing that makes desolate, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (let him that reads understand;)

But when you see that detestable thing that makes desolate, which is spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that reads understand,) then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;

And when this letter has been read among you, cause that it be read in the church of the Laodiceans also; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea;

When they had read it, they rejoiced for the consolation which it gave.

I adjure you by the Lord, that this letter be read to all the holy brethren.

Now they know that all things that thou hast given me are from thee;

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, he explained to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself.

so that, when you read, you can see my understanding in the mystery of the Christ,)

For, with great strength, he utterly confounded the Jews publicly, showing, by the Scriptures, that the Christ was Jesus.

I am astonished that you are so soon turning away from him that called you into the grace of Christ, to another gospel: which is nothing else than that there are some who trouble you, and are determined to pervert the gospel of the Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach to you any other gospel than that which we have preached, let him be ac cursed.read more.
As we said before, so even now I say again, if any one preaches to you any other gospel than that which you have received, let him be accursed.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that you expect such things, earnestly strive, by being spotless and blameless, to be found by him in peace: and count the long-suffering of our Lord, salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, has written to you; as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

I have written these things to you concerning those who deceive you.
