African Reed Beds is a custom Age of Empires II map scripted by dangerduck. The map was initially pitched as The Hip O's.

Overview[edit]

Aggression into expansion is the name of the game for African Reed Beds, as starting resources are deliberately limited to encourage venturing out rather than staying put behind walls. The only neutral stone is in the cracked center teeming with turtle puddles and a few extra ostriches. Similarly, players will likely need to focus on a side in selecting which clump of extra neutral golds to prioritize along with which neutral market to trade with in the late game. While greedier players may elect to squeeze in a back dock for the 3 extra marlin, be warned that the worthy resources on this map will likely require military to claim.
