A new update this month!
By the end of March, the first update of the year will arrive with changes that focus on challenges and seasonal rewards. Some of these changes were already announced in our 2023 Roadmap blog, but now we have a few more details of what the 2023 Q1 update includes. Keep in mind that this is just a preview, so we can’t share all the details yet.
Season Tokens
Not everyone finds the same chests and magic items useful, and that has been a significant issue with challenge rewards for a long time. Season Tokens are here to fix that!
Instead of earning traditional rewards from challenges, you’ll earn Season Tokens. You can also earn these tokens with all the Pass Royale tiers, including the free one.
Season Shop
You can later exchange these tokens for other items in the Season Shop. Some of these items are:
- Gold
- Wild Cards
- Magic Books
- Battle Banners
- Emotes
Where to Find Them
There are two ways where you can earn Season Tokens:
- Playing events
- Progressing through Pass Royale
Event Battle Rewards
At the end of an Event Battle, you will earn tokens based on these factors:
- Crown Towers Destroyed
- Crown Towers Defended
- Elixir Spent through each battle
This means that you’ll have a chance to win Season Tokens whether you win or lose.
Season Tokens Daily Cap from Events
The amount of Season Tokens you can earn daily by playing Events is limited:
- No boost: 1,000 tokens per day
- With Season Boost: 7,000 tokens per day
You can, however, still continue to play events after reaching your daily cap.
Events Tab
You already know that you can earn tokens by playing Events, but what is included in the Events Tab? Party Modes and Challenges.
Party Modes
They include 1v1, 2v2 and Special Challenges. All these party modes will move from the hidden hamburger menu to the Events Tab. You’ll be able to play them as much as you want, even after reaching the Season Token daily cap.
To make the things even better, a level 11 cap (tournament standard) will be added to these modes, so you can now party on a leveled playing field.
Challenges
Don’t worry, Classic and Grand Challenges will remain in this tab.
Endless Special Challenges
One of the most requested changes to Special Challenges is to be able to play them multiple times. In the current system, you either you lose 3 times and be out, or finish the challenge quickly and be locked out of the challenges forever.
In the new system, you’ll be able to play special challenges as much as you like. Rewards will be earned as Season Tokens. There won’t be anymore “Pay Gems to Continue”. Even after you have hit your Season Tokens cap, you’ll be able to play these special fun game modes.
Pass Royale 2.0
In case you missed the other preview that was shared two weeks ago, Pass Royale is being updated next season. It will have 3 different tiers:
- Free: has Crown Chests and Season Tokens
- Gold: also has a tower skin, an emote and other rewards
- Diamond: also has a battle banner and other rewards
Feedback
If you still have unanswered questions, that’s normal, this is just a preview to show what will be coming in the following weeks. We’ll share more details as soon as we can. But for now, let us know about your initial impressions. How much do you like these changes?
