Phoenix - New Legendary Card
The 2022 Q3 update will have a new flying Legendary card
new card updateThis mystical creature will be reborn as an egg when destroyed. If it hatches, it returns to the fight! What an egg-cellent ability. Phoenix also has a fiery personality! Just kidding, it’s a very serious bird. It would disapprove of all these puns.

Description
Phoenix is a new flying Legendary troop with melee attacks (single targeting). When it’s destroyed, it explodes in a small fire and deals Area Damage to nearby units and buildings (Death Damage).
A Phoenix Egg is then hatched at the location of his death. If this Egg is not destroyed in time, a new Phoenix will arise from the ashes and be reborn at full health.
Only one egg will ever be hatched per deploy — so it won’t keep on rising from its death over and over again… don’t worry!

Analysis
The new cards that get added to this update are remarkably unique. Phoenix is no exception — she will be the first troop in the game that can rise from her death, via an egg that’s her death spawn.
The twist is that the Egg has a lifetime of 4 seconds. If after 4 seconds, the egg is still alive, then it will hatch into a new Phoenix with full health. If the egg doesn’t survive then that will be the end of it.
In our testing, sometimes it is hard to predict if the egg will survive. We find that eggs that got spawned closer to the river has a higher chance of hatching into a new Phoenix, whereas an egg that’s closer to the opponent’s tower tends to die. This is mainly because Princess tower arrows has a shorter distance to travel to the egg when the egg is close by, while eggs closer to the bridge would take a longer time for the arrows to take out.
Traveling speed of Phoenix is similar to that of Lava Hound, thus making it a good support troop for the flying tank. Unlike Baby Dragon and Skeleton Dragons, Phoenix is a single-targeting troop so don’t expect her to deal with swarms.
Given that the Phoenix Egg also has good synergy with the Miner — you can use the Miner to tank for the Egg so the Egg will survive long enough into a new Phoenix — I expect the card to find a comfortable place in the meta in the Lava Hound Miner archetypes.
I can’t wait to see the new meta decks that you will come up with when the update finally arrives!
