The Cult of Orcus was a religious order that existed within the Zarosian Empire. It was dedicated to Orcus the Necromancer, one of the Zarosian dukes. The cult was a highly secretive organisation. Its members were hand-picked in secret and trained in necromancy[1], but they could be identified by a secret mark.[2] Sometimes, members of the cult had their own orders, which could supersede those of their ordinary commanding officer.[3]
The cult had a presence in the fortress known as Kharid-et. Although Praetor Trindine expressed her suspicions of the cult's motives, especially due to their dabbling in necromancy, the members stationed at Kharid-et were ultimately loyal to Zaros' cause, and assisted Trindine in protecting Kharid-et at the cost of their own lives.[4] Lucius Castillius is the only named, known member of the cult, but his journals tell that Trindine herself "carried the mark of the Cult" and was therefore part of it.[2]

I had suspected they were given their own orders separate from those given to me. Now I see they are members of Orcus's cult. Bloody necromancers."
