The Colosseum is a building in Senntisten. It can be accessed through the gateway located north-west of the cathedral. It serves as the arena where Kerapac, the bound can be fought.

History[edit | edit source]

Days of the Empire[edit | edit source]

The Colosseum was built at some point during the Second Age in the days of the Zarosian Empire. Erected in one of the more affluent districts of Senntisten, it was frequented by large crowds of citizens to watch the gladiatorial battles that took place inside and place bets on the gladiators.[1]

Following the fall of Zaros, as the cataclysmic God Wars raged across Gielinor during the Third Age, both Zamorak and Saradomin fought for control of Senntisten. The area surrounding the Grand Cathedral and the Colosseum was heavily fortified, however, and served as a haven for Zarosian loyalists for hundreds of years. The district would eventually end up buried underground, and would remain forgotten for a very long time.[2]

Elder God Wars[edit | edit source]

It would not be until the Sixth Age, thousands of years later, that the ruins of Senntisten would be rediscovered by the Archaeology Guild. After Zaros forcibly opened the Codex to travel to Erebus, unleashing large amounts of shadow anima in the process, the Elder God eggs were stirred and prepared to hatch. In a desperate attempt to prevent the Great Revision, the destruction of the universe at the hands of the Elder Gods, the Mahjarrat Azzanadra had an entrance to the city excavated. Both the Colosseum and the surrounding district were, for the most part, miraculously intact. Having recently ascended to godhood himself after closing the Codex, Azzanadra had the eggs teleported from the Heart of Gielinor to the cathedral, before reinforcing its magical defences with the assistance of the World Guardian.

In response to this, the Elder God Jas sent one of her pawns, the Dactyl dragonkin Kerapac, to reclaim the eggs by force. Leading an army of Nodon dragonkin, Kerapac settled in the Colosseum to use it as his base of operations and began a lengthy siege against the cathedral, where the younger gods kept the eggs stable by draining their anima while their followers kept the Nodon army at bay. Wielding the power of two Elder Artefacts, the Staff of Armadyl and the Needle, Kerapac would battle against the World Guardian in the Colosseum arena, but in spite of his incredible power he would end up defeated. Unable to accept his failure, Jas made sure that Kerapac could not die, much to his dismay.[3]

You would be surprised at how easily people relinquish their secrets when the rush of a gladiatorial battle rages before them. The gambler's mind forgets that there are always people listening."
