The robes of subjugation are a full set of power armour for Magic that requires 70 Defence to wear. The robes are non-degradable, and they are the Magic equivalent of Armadyl equipment and Bandos equipment, which are respectively ranged and melee power armour sets. It is also the second highest-level non-degradeable Magic armour set in the game, after the Anima Core of Seren.

The robes are strong, do not degrade, and have a Magic bonus, comparing with the fellow mid-level Ahrim the Blighted's equipment and ganodermic armour, which both have higher defensive bonuses, the robes of subjugation are most often used for training combat and Slayer, though they can also be levelled and disassembled for Zamorak components.

The components of the robes of subjugation are dropped by K'ril Tsutsaroth and his bodyguards in the God Wars Dungeon.

Apart from being tier 70 power magic armour, the armour set is also required for creating greater ensouled cloth, used for crafting tier 80 and 90 Deathwarden robe armour and Deathdealer robe armour. This is the main source of demand for the set. The ward of subjugation is the exception that cannot be used to create greater ensouled cloth, and thus is worth much less and is most cost-effective for Zamorak components.

Item shards

Item shards are obtained from certain monsters while having CoinShare on. When a rare drop is given by the monster, 120 item shards are divided up among the involved players and sent to their banks. 120 shards can then be combined to give the original item.

History

Not long after Zamorak achieved godhood, he became worried about his followers, who were not loyal to him and were planning to betray him the same way he did with Zaros. Seeing that, he visited Razulei in the Infernal Dimensions and requested the creation of the robes of subjugation, powerful robes imbued with cruelty. After they were created, Zamorak paid Razulei handsomely and gave them to his mages. Any mages who drew power from the clothes with the objective of overcoming him were flooded with pain. Desperate to cease it, they drew even more power from the robes, but it only worsened the pain and, eventually, killed them.

After Zamorak's banishment, his followers that wished to return him to Gielinor were loyal, so they could use the power of the robes not only without succumbing to pain, but prospering in the name of Zamorak.

Trivia

• The robes of subjugation were originally named the robes of subjection.
• They used to require 70 Magic before an update.
• Unlike Armadyl and Bandos equipment, the robes of subjugation did not exist at all at the initial release of the God Wars Dungeon, being added during the expansion of the area on 5 September 2012 to enhance K'ril's drop table and give Magic an offensive armour set.
• Praying at the altar in K'ril Tsutsaroth's chamber while wearing any part of these robes grants an extra 10 prayer points per piece.
